I'm planning on running LoF as the alternate campaign to our group's RotRL campaign (so the original DM and I can split some of the workload.) Trouble is, we are having our annual geek-week retreat in early March, and I'd really like to get the campaign kicked off during that game-fest.
With the tight time-line between the LoF release and early March, I'd like to get the players thinking about their characters now. So I'm looking for feedback on how I might present the LoF setting in my "call-for-characters."
Would you recommend a party composed of mostly people from outside of Osirion and 'Pesh? It seems that the cultural diversity of Katapesh is part of its exotic nature, so I would imagine it would be best to have characters drawn from all over Golarion.
What would your "advertising copy" for the campaign include? If anyone wants to take a shot at it, I'd love to see your efforts.
If any of you "in the know" want to share some clue's to the opening stanza's of the AP, that would be helpful as well! ;)

My understanding is that LoF is intended to be a quasi-Arabian Nights adventure, so my recommendation would be to use the 2E Arabian Adventures book as an inspiration for the design of characters from Katapesh or Qadira.
There are some 3.5E conversions of the material out on the internets; a decent one can be found here.

How about it James, last 2 paths we've gotten a blog about the beginning of the path (one on Lamm and one on the golden goblin) usually over a month before the path starts... we're now under a month til it stars.
We'll be doing some sort of blog about this pretty soon... probably as soon as this Friday, in fact...

Um, did I miss something or did the ship date for LoF and the Player's Guide just change? I thought for sure that when I placed my preorder it was supposed to ship in February. Now, depending on where I look I see either March or April for both of them.
Say it ain't so! Please.
I saw March also, and I subscribe to the AP's and I was wondering about that too.

I noticed that too, as I've been stalking the product for a while (I'm planning on starting my subscription with LoF... just trying to get the best time with exchange rates to buy.) A little bit of digging found this:
delabarre wrote:Sigh. Yes—the February products are currently scheduled to arrive in the first week of March, though we still have some hope that they'll make it in early.. The March products are scheduled to arrive in mid-March.They slipped the schedule a bit. The weather at the beginning of the month is wreaking havoc on their near-term deliveries.
They'll probably try to pull things back down the road a bit, to get twelve Pathfinders out in 2009. So we'll have a double month somewhere.
I for one am not worried, because I'm not going to start running my people through LoF until the fall at the earliest -- they're still working their way to Fort Rannick, and I'm committed to getting them all the way to the big fight with Karzoug.
