Announcing the creation of an "unofficial Pathfinder Society Open Call Critique Group" on GoogleGroups! Go here to request membership and get started.
I decided to start this group as a way for us to help each other improve our adventure design and writing skills. It occurred to me after receiving several useful critiques of my (rejected) first proposal for the PFS Open Calls that it would have been even more useful if I'd had someone in the "Pathfinder-know" look over my submission before I confused Josh Frost. I'm involved in a few online critique groups for novels, and figured the format might work for this writing niche as well.
Here's what I have in mind for the critique group, at least to get things started: each member will exchange submissions with another member a minimum of five days before the submission deadline for the active Open Call, and return a review of the scenario outline within two days. I don't foresee this being a complicated or time-consuming process, since each submission has a cap of 750 words.
We can hash out a list of "Reviewer Expectations" and "Submission Expectations", which I will post as a Group Page.
All suggestions and input are welcome. Thanks for giving this a try with me!

I like the idea, and I've requested to join. Thanks!

Next time I might have something worth reading 5 days before deadline. I'd be glad to participate if you'll have me.
Absolutely! I just approved your membership request.
I figured we wouldn't get off the ground until the next Open Call. As it is, I'm fighting through my entire family having colds to try to get my current submission finished before midnight. Guess I should get back to that!
Welcome to the group!

I think this is a great idea, but I'm amazed anyone could have a full submission done 5 DAYS before deadline! I wasn't even ready 5 hours beforehand. Good luck to everyone!
Funny you should say that. *checking the clock* Yep, I had one hour left before the deadline. I can't believe I finished it...lol.
Five days was just a suggestion, so we could have a starting point for discussion of how this might work. taig did manage to get his done in time for me to critique beforehand, but just barely.
Maybe five days was a bit optimistic. I was going off of my first submission, which I completed over a week before the due date. It doesn't really matter, as long as the person doing the critique is cool with how much time they have to look the submission over and there is time left for changes to be made in the proposal.

Well, that last is the question, really. I think I'd agree that five days is a necessary and reasonable lead time to benefit from a round of reviews, especially if members are in different time zones, but it may well be that last-minute feedback is better than none.

I intend to make myself available up to the night of the due date for reviews (real life pending, of course). Sorry I missed yours last night, Elora, and thanks again for the comments on mine, especially since I gave you less than a day to look over it.
Good luck and congratulations to everyone who entered! Except not so much luck for those that put in a proposal for scenario 23. ;-)

No problem! Glad we have such a great group going.
And on the bright side of having to wait until September once the current Open Call is over, we'll have plenty of time to flesh out tools for all of us to use, like the discussions zombieneighbors started. As soon as I finish my submission(s) for this Open Call, I plan on finishing up a comprehensive list of published venture captains.
