Casting Remove Disease seems weaker than Heal check

Magic and Spells

Dark Archive

Remove Disease needs now to roll a caster level check against the save DC of the disease.
Heal check can easily make the diseased save better than the spell (Heal rank + WIS + 3 if class-skill) so is by far more usefull than the spell.
I think that the spell should be at least as usefull as the spell.

I agree I think all spells should be as useful as themselves! ;)

I understand what you are getting at here, but getting rid of a disease through a skill check takes a longer period of time, whereas the spell takes only as long as it takes to cast it.

I would prefer to change the Heal skill check DC than the spell (due to the symmetry with other similar spells).

Perhaps the Remove Disease can heal some ability damage as it cures it?

Remove Disease is ok as it is, you can always repeat it... i like the fact that nothing is certian in life... otherwise we wouldknow no disease or death in fantasy games because everythign has clerics and wizard solving those 'tiny issues'

Hmm... how about Remove Disease can use your Heal modifier in place of your caster level?

sounds fine to me

butthen you force the player to have heal... i know its a good basis for a cleric or a druid
but some ... for example the paladin is able to heal diseasesNOT because he understand them... but because his goddess wishes SO

same with clerics... they might not understand the plague... but her goddess might give her the power to heal the people

PS: I am follower of Iomedae so bite me when i say goddess and not god :P

I meant use Heal modifier in place of caster level, if higher. No forcing it on people (any more than Find Traps forced having the Search skill).

I think everything you said made perfect sense. And goddess is just fine with me.

je ok :)

mostly my bias against using Heal, is that clerics and paladins are already very punished in the class area... so if for their concept they don't need Heal, well no heal skill... but that means that they would be doubly taxed if for some reason they actually need to use Remove Disease, specially the paladin...

with caster level they grow as they grow in power, i know an speciallyzed cleric in healing should be betterhealing someone or removing a disease... but in the end thepower of the gods is the one that should decide so with magic

at least that is my feeling :)
