You'll probably get a better deal at brick and mortar stores, if you have access. Half Priced Books usually has some cheap, and one of the two FLGS's I buy at has quite a few for under $20.

eBay is a cool for some things (I got the Rokugan Campaign Setting for $2 last month, brand new), but others (high demand items) not so much. Sometimes you have to put in the legwork to get a good deal...

Um, no thanks :)

(And that sucks, I wanted to pick some Iron Kingdoms stuff up. Oh, well, back to the sifting through used boxes at the FLGS and Half Priced Books...)

Nice. Still not giving up my set, though. Same with DUNE: Chronicles of the Imperium rpg.

And yet they end on ebay for under $10. (or at least last month when i sold two of those)

Scarab Sages

I've seen a few books on amazon that I was keeping an eye on the last few months go up in price, almost double. These were the cheapest in the USED section but now they are not. Not all the vendors are raising their prices but I can't find one for under $10 now.

Looks like somebody chose the wrong forum to sell on! Sorry to hear they went for so little. Maybe I will have a look on Ebay for the Monsternomicon.

Liberty's Edge

Well, eBay is a more speculative marketplace. Bidding on some items can get stupid, frankly. But, it is also a better place to find bargains...

Example: the Rokugan Campaign Setting I got brand new off of eBay for $2. Amazon had copies (at the time) going for $40+.

the market for 3x stuff is wonky right now. some people think they're sitting on a goldmine, and some people think they're sitting on garbage. It'll straighten out soon enough...

Until then, eBay and used bins for me!

I don't really care, I was selling them for the store I work for, I get paid the same if they go for $0.01 or $100.00

It blew my mind. I was a bit apprehensive until I got the package, but there it was, in its mint condition splendor...

The shipping actually cost me twice what the book did ;)

I stick with amazon.com. I got tons of books for next to noting. Just last week I got the Eberron campaign setting for $3. Heck, the shipping cost more than the book!

IK is nothing. Try finding a copy of Ptolus:

Yeah but cover price for that is 89. so realistically it only a 2x markup, same as the IK stuff

I hope all this action leads to reprints, and a renaissance of all things Three.

This would be nice, but don't count on it. I can't find a Player's Handbook 3.5 in any of the Half Price Books locations in central Texas.

And Texas ain't small. And I've looked.

my copy of races of destiny only cost me 99 cents, before shipping. i ordered it off of amazon.

Yep. My buddy couldn't find one in central Texas, and I found one after months of searching and mailed it to him.

Hm. We got PHB 3.5 in abundances up here in Central Ohio.

4e country?

Rarely see those up here in the five HPBs, so it's possible. But the largest facility is near OSU campus, so there's always a larger allotment.

I've seen some 4.x stuff up in Westerville. I'll admit, made me chuckle.

Hoping to find Ghouls FA though, since I lost mine to plumbing failure. I *heart* revenants.

Yeah, but they don't stay long; they tend to turn over quickly. I've only found Pathfinder ONCE in a HPB. Snatched everything I didn't have in my collection that I could. What was awesome at the time they were doing an additional 20% on top. :D

FA?

That has happened to me twice in my life. On both occasions, I heard angels singing as I pulled a missing copy of the first AP off the shelf. I mean, what are the chances?

Now if I could find some Iron Kingdoms hardcovers in a HPB, I'd be elated...

There's a few choice books from 3.5 that are going up in price drastically... Monster Manual 5 is going for almost $80!

Ghouls: Fatal Addiction One of the books I lost in my recent plumbing problems. It's a White wolf book and I took pride in having a complete Revised collection. Heck, Vampire is one of those games I'd still like to play, even if I prefer the 'bit players' :-)

I was lucky to find that out of the blue in a HPB store last year. That's one that you can rarely find these days compared to the other MMs.

Check out ebay. There's a few copies there that are MUCH cheaper!

Yeah Matt I agree I still run an oWoD game every other month. Would love to be a player but STing is fun too.

I think I pretty much bought everything 3.5 I want at this point. I don't think MM V was worth $8 much less $80.

Liberty's Edge

I need to find a place to offload my 3.5 books and hopefully make a lil bit more than I'll get at HPB. Considering eBay, but that is a bit more labor intensive than I'm liking.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

Amusingly, the death of 3.x D&D has ended my want to complete my WotC 3 collection, including MM IV and V.

I'm working on an adventure for the last round, in the off hope that I make it. If I don't, I plan to still write it up and post it online (If I don't make it to the final four, it's still mine) Work is being kind enough to train me on Front Page so I'll be able to set up a website of some level.

Now, where do I get critters from?

Bestiary? Check.

XPH? Check.

Tome of Horrors? Check.

Creature Collections? Pretty sure that's a check.

MM II-V? Nope.

Fiend Folio? Nope.

Because WotC kept their content closed, I've no reason to buy their products anymore, while I will grab a PDF of the Advanced Bestiary, or Arcana Evolved.

Yeah, HPB don't give you much for your turn-ins. What are you offloading? Non WotC stuff included?

Mostly WotC Stuff (have almost all of the 3.5 books) I didn't buy much 3PP stuff, as most of my play was RPGA. What little 3PP I have is Iron Kingdoms books from Privateer Press, although I may keep that to try to Pathfinderize.

...and that is exactly what I'm looking for at a decent price. Tease. :P All I own in dead tree are the two Monsternomicons.

I did. Bought MM5 for around $20. Although, I'm noticing more and more Ebay dealers keeping their prices around what Amazon is charging. I'm at the point now where the few books I am missing are all in the $35+ range, so it's gonna be slow going.

I have plenty of books to draw material from, but unfortunately I am an OCD completionist. If I don't get that one book I am missing, 10 years down the road I'll end up in a situation where it's gonna be like;"Damn, if only we had X book, then we'd know for sure..." It sucks.

A lot of us suffers from the same disease. :P

EDIT: it's my only explanation of owning Weapons of Legacy and BO9S.

I have a copy running around that has almost fallen apart due to the amount of times I read it. I LOVE ghouls even more than vampires..but then again, I don't love vampires too much(a distant fourth behind W:TA, H:TR and M:TA).

Good draconic sense.

Same here, Matthew. I don't have IV or V, and there are plenty of books like those that if I have a hole in my collection, I can plug it with folks who are still selling high quality pdfs or more likely new Pathfinder paper that makes me apathetic or at least incredibly patient when it comes to acquiring such items, and the material will be OC. When/if I buy missing WotC books, it will be because a great deal comes along.

Mairkurion {tm} wrote:

Amen.

I think there's one 3.5 book left that I want. I think I still don't have Stormwrack, but I'd have to check my shelves to be sure.
