My new addiction

Video Games

I've recently broken my pc addiction by purchasing an xbox 360, my new addiction. Now I need YOUR suggestions for games to play. Specifically, I'm looking for FPS-type games which allow two players in the same room to play through the game simultaneously as a team. I'm NOT talking about multi-player online modes like 'deathmatch' or 'capture the flag'. I just finished Halo 2 and Halo 3 playing from beginning to end as the arbiter while my friend played as the master chief. That's what I'm looking for. Thanks for your suggestions!

Gears of War and its sequel are allegedly very very good in that regard.

GOW was great. Left4dead is very fun as well for coop.

Hmmmm

All my wife and I play together are shooter, b/c the 360 has no split screen 2 player non-FPS games.

But Gears of war was good...and intense.

If you are looking for single player stuff, I recommend (in no particular order) Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Bioshock to name a few.

Good news: Resident Evil 5 will be 2 player co op.

Bad news: It won't be released until Friday, March 13th, 2009.

  • For an older title (and mentioned in another thread), Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a lot of co op fun.

  • Err....ahem... I must confess....

    Spoiler:
    I luv drawing :D

    Scarab Sages

Fable 2, good co-op but more of a rpg than fps.
As mentioned above Gears of War 2, alone or with a friend it just rocks.

Oops... I didn't read the first post and now I realize is videogames only...sorry!

I've never played it, but I know several of my friends have Army of Two, which is pretty much designed for co-op killin'.

EDIT: I just realized it almost looks like I was trying to say 'cop killin' but like, coughed in the middle of typing...

I agree. I even go so far as to say that game is ONLY fun with co-op. Me, my friend, my cousin and my brother spent a weekend playing through it. It was great. but when I tried to play alone, the computer controlling the other guy made it a lot harder and less fun.

*bear in mind that this is just my opinion of a game. I'm not one to play many games and i don't really enjoy most FPSs.*

Army of Two was a lot of fun, though I didn't try co-op locally. I did try Left 4 Dead locally, and while it's a great title, it suffers from major clipping problems and enemies vanishing and reappearing suddenly in local co-op. The graphics also seem to take a downgrade in local, though not too sure why. Still tons of fun, but it seems to lose a little, locally.

I guess I've never been a big fan of local co-op for anything other than a brawler like good ol' Streets of Rage 2 or a fighting game--which, by definition, isn't co-op. Still, enjoy the new 360, I love it myself.

Gears of War was great for this.

The beauty of the 360 is the online multiplayer mode, though. I've seldom had as much fun playing video games as I have with online sessions of Rainbow Six: Vegas or Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 or Grand Theft Auto 4. We're currently playing regular sessions of Left 4 Dead, and while I'm sure that the game's flaws will grate on me a few months ago, I'm still having a blast with it.

$50 for a year of X-Box Live is an incredible bargain. If you've got a high-speed internet account, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
