I'm a bit confused about the splitting of reactive and active perception checks as they relate to traps.
If a character is using a move action to search for traps (active), and rolls a 20, they might avoid triggering a dart trap, right?
If the character is not using a move action to search for traps but is walking normally, would they be entitled to a perception check to find the same trap and what would be the benefits of making that check?

Nobody? Was it a dumb question?
I'm just confused about when an active (move action) perception check is required and when a reactive perception check is required to find a trap. P. 308 mentions that an active perception check is required to detect covered pits but none of the other perception checks seem to say.
