Oh that is awesome! That'll work perfectly with the "No, don't eat me!" jokes. Great job Azhagal! Like what you did with the name.

I think I'm gonna paint a velvet kobold. I once went to this SCA tournament in Ohio about 15 years ago and there was this guy who painted a Velvet Elvis using 14th century illustration style. It was a wondrous anachronism!

Edit: Durn it! Now my scanner has taken a cr@p! Stupid, wonderful technology! :)

Beware! It's contagious! ;-) My scanner was 'removing' a couple of 'lines' in the drawing.. wasn't a real problem when the scans were fairly small, but a high-res scan I was doing for you, well, it just screamed at me... Let's hope for better scanner-time ahead...

This is an interesting thread, you might want to check at least the 1st post, it has some wonderful character's art.

RotRL Party Art

Hey all,

I am rubbish at visual arts and want a good drawing of my Runequest character. Would anyone like to offer up a drawing?

He is a 21 years old human Wilderness Orlanthi (read barbarian), profession storm chaser, follower of Urox the Storm Bull, described as loud boastful and brave. He hates chaos and likes to hit things with his great axe. He has a buckler. He has a little magic, mostly spells that help him hit things, like fanatacism, strength, and berserk. He has a mail shirt covering chest, abdomen, and arms, leather greaves, and an open helm. I never envisioned him with much facial hair, but am open to such things.

Did I mention that he hates chaos and likes to hit things? :)

Please post links here.

Thanks!

I don't think I have any commissions pending (Though Montalve will be kind enough to correct me on that if I'm wrong), so if you have no objections I'll try my hand at this. I've never been able to get hulking barbarian down, so take that as a warning, but I'm always looking to try something new. And a barbarian who hates chaos? interesting.

Dark Archive

I have two requests that I need for an adventure I will be running at NeonCon.

Dwear: Dwear wander the Crown of the World, living as nomads who follow the herds that wander this region. They are rarely seen beyond there, although some tribes have been seen as far south as the Land of the Linnorm Kings. At least one tribe is also known to have sworn feality to Baba Yaga. From the waist up, Dwear resemble powerfully built but hairy dwarven warriors, often dressed in leather armor and carrying traditionl axes. Below the waist is a different story, as they have the powerful body of a polar bear. According to their myths, dwear were indeed once dwarves who were driven from their holds and exiled to the frozen wastes. It was there that their shamans appealed to the bear spirits to give them the streangth to survive and they were transformed. As a result, dwear do not worship any of the god, their spiritual needs are met by druids instead of clerics.

Worc: When Baba Yaga first seized control of Irrisen, she wanted to create a force that would cause unreasoning fear in the minds of her opponents. She discovered an ancient Ulfen myth about the Eaters of the Dead, who's bite would prevent an Ulfen warrior from travelling to Valhalla. So using a tribe of orcs captured in the Hoarwood forest and a pack of dire wolves, she created the living embodiement of the eaters of the Dead. Worcs have the upper body of an orc and the lower body of a dire wolf, but an intelligence that is greater than either creature. They are also blessed with a supernatural ability to cause fear in the minds of their enemies. The armies of Irrisen often use them as shock troopers, sending them ahead of the main advance to break the enemy spirit. Otherwise, thy roam the frozen lands of Irrisen, running down and slaying anyone that shows the slightest fear in their presence.

Fantastic!

I have a couple of Mwangi characters, feel free to pick either :)

Soki

Soki is a typical darkskinned, tall Mwangi. She is quite attractive but also has an air of intimidation about her. Her raven black hair is kept held back in a tight ponytail, embelished with the occasional braid & quite large feather taken from things she has hunted. Soki has an athletic build typical of a jungle hunter and typically weilds a spear. Her armour is patched together from hide, leathers and the odd piece of sleek fur. She wears trophies gained from hunts with pride; animal fang jewellery & even the large raking scar along her abdomen. She also often uses the blood of fallen prey to adorn her face with spiralling tribal patterns.

!Xaba

!Xaba is a sorceress who uses tribal fetishes as foci for her spells (she believes she needs them) When adventuring she wears only a small amount of clothing, usually hides. She is a very tall, stunning figure who's dark skin is adorned by many tribal tattoos that mark her as a mystic. Her hair is very long with ribbons braided into it and is often held back and out of her face using a simple bandana or headband. Her weapon of choice is a small dagger as it is practical, being able to be used as both a weapon and a tool.

I'll take both of these. For some reason, I didn't know they were still open.

Appearance:

At 5'6", this scrawny looking 130 pound half-elf is short. Constantly disheveled and tired looking, you think you smell gin on his breath. His dark brown hair is constantly a mess. His voice, though not deep, is still rather gruff for a man his age and size. His intense violet eyes keep constantly aware of their surroundings, while his body tends to remain dead still.

History:

Kyras was born in Westcrown, Cheliax to Jasmine Maharis, an adulterer that had fled her homeland when she had become pregnant from an illicit affair with an elf. His mother would not tell him where she came from, and had made his uncle Colin, the only member of her family that came with her, promise not to tell him either, because she wanted to hide from the shame, and hide Kyras from those that would despise him for his bastard heritage. For the same reason, she never revealed the name of his elven father either.

Jasmine was a deeply depressed woman, regretting her decision to sleep with an elf, lovesick for the husband that would never have her again, and homesick for the land she fled. She loved Kyras, and tried to do her best for him, but her depression reflected in her childrearing, and Kyras never got close to his mother. But his uncle, Kyras' fondest memories were with his uncle Colin, who had been a member of the town guard back in his homeland. His uncle taught him how to fight when one of the neighborhood bullies had beat him up, and was always there to help Kyras in other ways. Kyras continued to learn the art of fighting from his uncle while learning another art on the streets.

The art of social power. The children of Westcrown reflect their environment remarkably well, and Kyras learned how to threaten, bluff, lie, and talk with the best of them, learning how to talk both deceitfully and straight, as well as apply the occassional amount of physical force to get what he wanted, freedom. See, Kyras never sought power for power's sake, Kyras wanted freedom. He was a refugee, he was a bastard, and he lived in the poorest section of Westcrown, and he chaffed under the oppression heaped on people of his station. Kyras saw power as a means to an end, and never really liked the things he had to do to get it here in this devilish city. But he saw no other way, and learned to play the game.

As the years went by Kyras became more and more embittered with the state of his life, despising the despicable things he did and said in the name of being able to enjoy some semblance of liberty. He started to drink at an early age so that he no longer had to think about the horrible things he felt he had to do. His drinking habit got worse and worse, until about two years ago, when it finally became a nearly daily habit.

Two months ago Kyras' uncle Colin had finally decided to step in and ask Kyras what was wrong, why was he going down this path? Kyras confided in his uncle, telling him how he hated the fact that he had to fight against everyone else for the ability to be free in any capacity, how he hated that he had to use people and walk on them, lie to them, threaten them, just to get what he wanted. He told his uncle he wanted to be free, and he wanted everyone to be free, that this whole situation, everything that Cheliax is, is WRONG, that people shouldn't live like this. But what could he do, he was just one little half-elf, one measly, ineffectual being in a sea of thousands that would eat him up in a second if he dared to trust them.

Colin beamed at him, confusing Kyras at first as he spoke so fast that Kyras could barely understand. There were other people like him, people that believed in freedom, and fought for it. He told Kyras not to lose hope. He left, telling Kyras he would be back later that day to introduce Kyras to some people he probably wanted to meet, he called them "Freedom Fighters."

Kyras' uncle Colin never came back that day, never came back at all. Kyras tried to talk to his mother about his uncle's dissappearance, but she just shushed him and said never to speak aloud of such things. But Kyras can't stop thinking about it. There are freedom fighters here in Cheliax? here in Westcrown?! He had to find them, and join them, he couldn't sit back and let things stay this way any more, and besides, they might know what happened to his uncle. Now if only he could kick this drinking habit......
