Sehkola hefts his spear. "I did, in fact, make a suggestion. As did Gavrin."

"Elijah has found little evil in this goblin. Porbably no more so than you wound find in any one of us. Would you kill an sentient creature, that is no threat to us, and risk becoming evil yourself just because you hate like that creature? Your starting to sound like a demon."

"I do not hate the creature. It tried to kill us, and now that it is outnumbered and defeated, it cowers and tries to tell us it did not really want to be here. Dispatching it quickly is the prudent and practical thing to do."

Sehkola lowers his voice a bit, and steps toward Lashara a bit. "But know this. Were I a demon, I would rip its eyes out. I would spear it through the gut so its pain was excruciating. I would skin it alive, and wear the skin as a cape. Then I would remove its heart while it still beat, so that I could dine upon it while it watched and took its last breaths. And then I would take its soul to the blackest depths of the Abyss, there to writhe in torment for eternity. And those would be the kindest things. How do I know? I saw those things done, and much more, by a demon to my brother."

Very menacingly, Sehkola adds, "I will forgive your words, this one time. I will forgive your ignorance of that which you speak, this one time. And only this one time."

Returning to his normal tone of voice, he finishes by saying, "So be it. If you decide to believe this goblin's sudden 'conversion', that is your decision. Do what you will with it; it is your responsibility."

Female Half-orc Rogue 1

Kora spat, thankful that the fight was over. Turning to see the heated exchange over what to do with the remaining goblin, she remained quiet. Her first instinct was to suggest running the thing through and just be done with it. One less goblin to worry about.

But Lashara's words, as sappy as Kora thought she sounded, made her hold her tongue. Kora couldn't count the number of times people refused to give her the benefit of the doubt because of her blood.

When Sehkola agreed to her request, she was surprised by just how tense things had gotten between them. Gods, aren't we a cheerful bunch?

She edged closer to Lashara, keeping her eyes on the goblin. "Well, on that note, you got a muzzle for your new pet?" She was genuinely curious. What were they going to do with the goblin?

Elijah rolls his eyes, "Gip... what to be a lackey? You'll help me with my armor, fitch my gear, and keep the camp clean. In return I'll teach you how to fight, and how to avoid fights. In addition you'll be fed and as much as I can kept out of direct danger. However if you betray me or the rest of these people, or start behaving in a manner unbecoming of an intelligent creature you and I will have issues."

Winching a little he turns to the rest of the party while waiting on the goblin's answer, "Now, could we get our own wounded tended too? Kora, you aren't injure are you? Could you see if any other goblins have some of these healing things on them? I'm going to sit down a minute."

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Sehkola will scan all of the goblins (including our new "friend") using detect magic.

male Gnome Monk 1

Well without getting into semantics, I made a threat not a suggestion, and it got us exactly what we needed, we need to head to the "twins chamber". As to what to do with the goblin well I know what to do with the goblin, but I want to find out who or what the twins are first, and if there are more of those acid blooded creatures second.

and if anyone has a healers kit I can bandage wounds well enough, I used to be a doctor

Shadow Lodge

The only magic you can find comes from the belt pouches(including Gip's) of several dead goblins,(Cure light potions they never had a chance to use, and two potions of lesser vigor) and the strange symbols on Gip's left arm.

Responding to Elijah/Lashara
"You no hurt Gip? Then Gip help you!" She hands each of you a small tile(although still wary of Sehkola and Gavrin) and tells you to break it if you hurt.
"Twins come here long time ago. Two hyoomans that make Gip quesy when close to Gip. Told us they where leaders of goblins now. When old leader say no Gip saw darkness strike him down. They had older goblins drink dark water and go snatch little hyooman. Not know why, but when goblins return they take little one and keep him in their room. Soon strange things"
*she points to the creature you fought earlier* "start show up. Twins call them anrako. Told us anrako means 'dream creature'. Gip know way around anrako, Gip hate them as much as Twins, but can say nothing or die. You Gip friends now so I show you way!"
She then points toward the left passage and waits for you to follow.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

How many of the cure light wounds potions on the dead goblins? Sehkola will collect and divide evenly among everyone.

"Yes, lead the way 'friend' ..."

Shadow Lodge

Sehkola wrote:

There are enough for everybody to have one with one left over.

male human paladin 2

Elijah breaks one of the tiles over his wounds.

do you want to roll the healing or should we?

"There, thank you for your help Gip. Do you know how many Anrako there are?" He turns to the others, "Should we avoid these... Anrako or try and destroy them? They seem rather tough, if we can take out the human leaders, the Anrako might disappear... like a bad dream. If not, the humans might be able to call them to their aid while they fight us, possibly putting us in the middle of some spell casters and more of those things."

Female Half-orc Rogue 1
Elijah Blair wrote:

Kora answered nonchalantly, "Just a scratch." as she looked over the fallen goblins.

Listening intently to the others interrogating the goblin, she wondered just what the hell they had gotten into. "Dream creatures? Hell, who dreams up something like that?" I swear I'm gonna burn that damn bridge down behind us if we make it out of here!

"Don't know if we can even avoid those things, really. That one popped up on top of us easy enough. Gonna be watchin' the ceilings from here on out, I know that."

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

The extra tile should probably go to one of our fighters ... either Elijah or Gavrin. Who wants to carry one of lesser vigor ones?

Sehkola seems a little unnerved at the idea of continuing further underground. He'd rather face a dozen of the dream things than face even the thought of a cave-in ...

male human paladin 2

You should probably keep one of the lesser vigor one Shekola, after all you should be attacked less and have more time to let the fast healing get you back to full health. Someone with high AC should probably get the other one, the higher the AC the better damage is avoided giving the fast healing more time to do enough good to matter.

would it be alright to ask about EXP now?

Shadow Lodge

500 exp, this was one battle after another after all. You can roll the healing while showing the math.

"Gip know secret way past anrako, but no know how many there are. Think little hyooman boy make them somehow, but not sure how. Maybe Twins do something to little hyooman..." The look in Gip's eyes show nothing but hatred for the Twins.
She looks to Lashara
"You cast spell in armor, you read this?"
She hold her left arm up, showing the letters for her to see.
Lashara

Spoiler:
While you can not read the runes yourself, you do recognize that they are written in celestial. You will have to get someone else to read them.

"Um can anyone here read celestial? What ever is written on Gip's arm is in celestial and I've yet to learn the language."

What/who in the world would put magical runes on a goblin?!?

"That is quite strange. Unfortunately, I do not know how to speak it, either."

male human paladin 2

I have picked my bonus language, and I'm a paladin, with DM permission I'll select celestial

Shadow Lodge

sure I'll post what they say later

Shadow Lodge

On Gip's arm you see two lines. You are surprised to find that instead of letters, these are the celestial runes for numbers.
24-3-15-21-10-17-24-19
6-10-5-9-20-16-6

Since none of you have any ranks in Linguistics, make two Int checks.

male human paladin 2

Healing: 1d8+1=4
Int Check 1:1d20+1=5
Int Check 2:1d20+1=4

Stupid invisible castle is rolling really low today.

Female Half-orc Rogue 1

Int Check 1: 5
Int Check 2: 9

"What, angel speak? What the hell would that be doin' on a goblin?"

Shadow Lodge

Neither of you have made the check.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Int checks (1d20+2=18, 1d20+2=14)

"Very unusual, to be sure. Gip, you said your name was? Who gave you these words ... or numbers, on your arm? And how did you learn to speak the Common tongue?"

Shadow Lodge

You realize the numbers are code. You then realize that there are three different codes superimposed over each other(picket fence then letter+1, then letters to numbers).

They read "We bind this power."

Gip thinks hard for a moment, then simply answers:
"Don't remember. Had wor.. numbers and know hyooman(what she calls Common) since able to remember."
She looks at her arm with new interest, than stares at all the big people standing around her.
"We go now?
She doesn't seem to realize why you all have such sudden interest in the runes.

Shadow Lodge

She leads you down a series of tunnels, going deeper underground. You've just entered a large open area when she looks back at you.
Gip not feel so good. You feel it to? Twins close now."
And indeed both Lashara and Elijah start to feel quesy.

Then from the darkness enshadowing the other end of the cave you hear two voices, speaking as one.
"Indeed we are you vile little goblin. Did you think we wouldn't find this place?" As Gip scurries to hide behind Elijah, out of the darkness step two humans, no older than you. Each are dresses in black. Only slightly taller than his sister, the young man steps foward first.
"Hello friends, I am Oroth, known to some as 'Dark Eyes'. May I introduce my sister?
At this point the young lady steps foward.
"How nice to meet you. I'm Hecate 'Night Eyes'. May I ask why you have decided to sneak through our home like mice needing extermination?"
Though she smile warmly as she says this, you can not help but feel a chill go down your spine.

Shadow Lodge

What do you do?

male human paladin 2

"Sneak? I seem to remember just walking right in. We are just looking for a lost little boy from the village. We told his mother we would bring him home. You haven't seen him have you?" Elijah answer, while concentrating on determining if they are, in fact evil.

Detect evil

"Wondering how long it would take to leave, burn a bridge, and never come back?" Kora said under her breath, more to herself than anyone else. What the hell have we gotten into? Cayden's sake! Who are these people!

Detect evil

"Yes, we made no pretense of stealth. We have been following the boy's trail, and it led here."

Shadow Lodge

Oh yeah their evil
As one they speak
"How interesting. It would seem your looking the hawk-wristed boy. Yes, we needed a young mind to fuel our work, and the anrako where the result. Anrako may mean 'dream creture' but what you fought was the boy's nightmare. It wasn't hard to find someone the goblins hated who had a child. If you wish to leave alive, kill that goblin and leave all your equipment, but the boy stays."

Make sense motive checks

male Gnome Monk 1

Gavrin charges and jump kicks the boy doing the speaking ::Jump d20+6=14, attack (charge) d20+5=24, damage (non-lethal)d6+2=3::

the goal is to end the attack where I threaten both of them so that if they attempt to spellcast I can react.

I don't take kindly to threats boy Gavrin says after the swing.

Sovereign Court

Male Gnome Bard/3

also don't forget to mention torches chairs etc. or anything else that can be used as a weapon (even if the opponent is wearing it)

male human paladin 2

Sense Motive: 1d20+3=16

"See the problem is I'm not leaving without that boy... and if you are the ones making those monsters, I think you should be leaving on a more permenant basis." Elijah states, Smashing the one Garvin didn't attack with his Maul.

Attack Roll: 1d20+5=22 Damage: 2d6+8=17

Shadow Lodge

They were lying about letting you leave.
I need a lttle time to find their stats, I just got home and they seem to have disappeared. But both get hit.
As one:
"It would seem you are strong of body. But you cannot fight what you can't see..."
They take a step back and darkness envelopes the area.
I do remember they can do that at least.

Shadow Lodge

Okay whenever your ready post your init rolls.
Rio

Spoiler:
I need a will save from Lashara when her turn comes around.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Initiative (1d20+6=19)

is that a spell or spell like ability? cause either one and I get to pop them again before they dissappear!

Initiative: 1d20=19 oh yeah!

Female Half-orc Rogue 1

"Aw hell!" Kora spat. This was not looking like her kind of fight.

Initiative: 21

male Gnome Monk 1

::initiative d20+2=8::

I think that dragonborn meant they take a 5 foot step back and cast darkness. You don't have reach do you Elijah?

male human paladin 2
Gavrin Bighit Norbera wrote:

nope and that would be what I would do too. Someone got a lighter? ;D

Female Human Cleric lv1

sorry about my recent absense been real busy
Rolled a 12 on my Init.
But rolled a 9 for my Will save!
The save's from the darkness right?

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

So... initiatives:

21 - Kora
19 - Sehkola, Elijah
12 - Lashara
8 - Gavrin

Shadow Lodge

Oroth and Hecate go before Lashara, so everyone before her post what your doing, in order.

Female Half-orc Rogue 1

Hell with it! Them or us! Kora ran forward with her torch in hand, trying to roll past Hecate in order to avoid any attack she might make, and attempted to stab at her as she came to her feet.

Rolls:
Acrobatics: 12
Melee Attack w/ Dagger: Natural 20+3 (23)
Damage: 3

Rolling to Confirm Crit: 7, no critical

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Sehkola fires a blast of electricity in the direction he last saw them ...
lightning blast (ranged touch attack) (1d20+2=10, 1d6=2)

You know, this is a ranged touch attack, and I've hit a total of one time for one point of damage in this whole PbP so far ...

male human paladin 2

sorry to hear that Sehkola I've seen it happen before: At low levels touch attacks usually aren't much better than normal ones. Quick question: Did they use darkness? That's countered by normal light now.

Unskilled Spellcraft Check: 1d20+1=6 Bleh

Elijah steps up to where he saw his target before it disappeared and swings at that spot again.

Attack Roll: 1d20+5=10 Damage: 2d6+8=12 Miss Chance (if needed) 1d100=27

Hey guys, don't think I made it that time...

Shadow Lodge

Kora I need a percentile roll. Call high or low(in your favor, like flipping a coin. While this may be obvious to some, it has caused problems in my RL games on saturday)

Sovereign Court

So It's safe to assume that this isn't the darkness spell, because in beta darkness is beaten by normal sources of light?

off topic I always go with high=good low=bad. Staying in keeping with the d20 system idea. So for me if percentiles are called for I'm always high, makes it simpler.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

<smacks self upside the head> Why the hell didn't I try my light spell?? Dumb, dumb, dumb ... Next round.

Female Half-orc Rogue 1

High.

I hoped my torch and darkvision would get me by. Oops!
