I would ask the designers to take this into consideration.
Star Wars Saga Edition has done this and it has made movement in combat much more interesting and used more often (in addition to better withdraw rules).
I have been using this in my D&D 3.5e (and now 3P) games for some time and it works great. Please change the Charge from full-round to standard action.
I will keep my houserule whatever you do but I ask this for all other players that have not yet experienced fun and good tactical options this opens for them in the game.

Just a question on this idea becuase I am intrigued. Do you still allow the double move as part of the charge, or is it a single move with an attack at the end? If it's the single move I think it's a good idea, however if you are allowing a double move as a standard action then the character could take a move, then double move for the charge getting a total of 3 x movement.

You can still only move your standard movement (usually 30 feet for lightly or unarmored characters) as part of that standard action. And you can use the move action that you got left for whatever you want.
Fighters could for instance move their speed and take out their weapon as part of the move action and then charge someone for normal speed + one attack as their standard action. This change makes some feats like the one that allows you to turn while charging kind of useless, but that feat is a patch for something that can be done much easier in this way.
And it is not my houserule. As I said, Star Wars Sage Edition is using it (and I can tell you that system is doing great and is being played and loved by many).
