well, I'll spoiler my answer so as to not contaminate the next people's, and i would encourage people to do the same and not read the spoilers until after posting.

Well, to me it looks like he's in the opening steps of the creationing (yes, i spelled that as i intended to) process where he has an idea, literally in his hands, and now he's massaging it to guage its potential so as to best utilize its creativity to give us new stuff to buy and use. possibly it represents tha little golem that all of us have in our heads that do this and sort ideas and make connections.

or so i think.
