That's it, that's my suggestion. (Or at least it would be...)
Jason has already said that Pathfinder is keeping the Paladin only LG and they're keeping the Code of Conduct. And I honestly don't think that stance will change.
But can we at least have a sidebar? Something that has a list of things to replace certain class abilities with for someone who's not lawful or good or either (you know, for a player who sees the Paladin as the Lawful Good Holy Warrior class and then wonders where the other eight Holy Warrior classes are). I mean, Smite Evil is easy to sub in, just replace "evil" with whichever alignment you want to be good at fighting against, but some of the others aren't so obvious.
That way, the LG Paladin is still officially the only kind of Holy Warrior, but the rest of us don't have to wait for Pathfinder's Unearthed Arcana to come up with the Paladin variants.
