Madonna Bans Sarah Palin from Her Concerts

I found this funny article in an Indian newspaper. So far there has been no comment from the McCain campaign.

That'll show her!!

Whatever. Madonna has shown a talent for one thing: marketing herself.

I doubt Palin's losing sleep over not being able to see the Material Girl [do something naughty to] a crucifix on stage.

Sarah Palin being thrown out of a Madonna concert would make a great SNL skit though.

Agreed, that would be pretty funny...

Yeah, as a political gesture weight is somewhat...negligible, but anyway, nice.

With luck there will be at least one bonfire of her records, books, posters and movies (preferably movies, lots of them, maybe all).

Look at all the good Sarah Plain is doing!!! First she cast resurrection on Sandra Bernhard career, sadly Sandra suffered a bout of foot in mouth disease but hopefully Sandra's Con is strong enough for at least a quick reincarnation spell.

Yes, the finacial meltdown is an important issue, but what I'm really concerned with is what Drew Barrymore, PDiddy and Matt Damon think about her which has helped boost sales for the hard hit print media.

And least we forget Sarah's mere popularity has put the unemployed back to work, even as we speak adult movie stars are back on the sets with cinematic greats like "Nalin Palin".

At this rate, the mock Palin industry may just save the economy.

Ah Madonna. So beyond her shelf life... (And I like a fair bit of her music, like Frozen or Human Nature.) She's probably just jealous that McCain mentioned Paris Hilton on the campaign trail, but not her.

About the only time I care what a Hollywood person says about a political matters in in a situation like this, where it's actually relevant.

That's cool.

Now if we can only get her to run for another office after the Nov election.

That's awesome. I love stories like that.

That's awesome. I love stories like that.

I read somewhere that the 'movie' that they sold was supposed to be an adaptation of Roger Zelazny's Lord of Light (which is darn near my favorite most-read book of all time), and that the guys were trying to discretely round up people in Hollywood to help them, and, despite already having a blank check from the CIA to fund the sets purchase / etc. they had people coming up to them left and right attempting to buy into the movie (unaware that it was a big con).

Most of the set stuff (which had been made for an earlier attempt at this movie that was canned, they just bought all of the set pieces and costuming second-hand) was shipped in and abandoned when they left, since they were supposed to still be working on the film when they finished getting the people out. Unless it was destroyed, there's a warehouse somewhere in Tehran with a bunch of Indian-style costumes and set-pieces for a Lord of Light movie...

The actual planning / rescue / etc. in itself would make a pretty cool movie, these days!

Rather presumptuous of Madonna, isn’t it?

50 year old Madonna and sticky & sweet...not a pleasant combination.

Madonna is just mad because Sarah is better looking.

Who isn't? Look at me! I'm ugly.

Well, this all plays into the "everybody picks on Sarah Palin" trope that the Republicans --particularly Rove-- have been selling, that interviewers are out to get her, that Oprah refuses to let her come on the show, and so on.

Aside from that, what, exactly, has Palin done that Madonna finds so abhorrent? Held conservative, Pro-Life views? Spoken her mind publicly? Run for office? Which of those gets someone banned from Madonna's concerts?

Heh. From a poster at work:

"The United States has become a place where entertainers and professional athletes are mistaken for people of importance."
