the PCs just trapped by Vanthus under Parrot Island...I left them at a cliff hamger cause our schedule will be way unstable due to the holidays....I hope to play Saturday but....er um we're aloong way from Gaping Maw.
so, I guess Vince and myself are heading to the dive, with Zoltok about a minute behind (due to addiction)

The bar is called the Gangplank. It's pretty quiet at this time of the day. However there are a few lone sailor types sitting at the bar. And two fellows playing pool at the back of the bar. The place is dimly lit. It is decorated with a distinctly nautical theme, and has an aroma of stale beer and fish that isn't overly pleasant, but at the same time is not over powering.

Such lingo varies depending on the class of speakeasy you are in, but a place like this probably isn't too elaborate.
You request "something strong that will quench your thirst".
The bartender says nothing, but looks at you a little suspiciously and pours you a drink. At the same time he stares at Vincent and Zoltock (not sure if Ingo is around or not).
"I haven't seen you here before. What brings you about?"

Are we officially dead? I seem to be the only one posting here. I hate qutting anything that's why I've hung on, should I just get crazy and start doing a Geraldo Rivera on this place? It'll at least get us killed with some dignity.
Skip says gregariously "I need something strong! My friend Zoltok the Magnificent got the place across the street to formulate a new act, he's a magician." He casts his eyes about the place to see if there's somewhere that obviously leads downstairs. "Me? I got the entertainment beat for the Tribune...though of course a fella like me that get's to enjoy a strong refreshment now and again would never put something like THAT in the paper. My editor, tha' bum, wouldn't print it anyway, haha..but I digress, now, 'bout that drink?" he says as he puts the glass up to his lips.

It's under right?...yes.(looked it up) tha roll is to try and convince the guy that I'm on the level about not revealing the place

It never started with the pace I had hoped, and I've made a bit of an effort to try to get things going again, but given what I've seen, I think I'm going to call this experiment over.
I apologize then. If someone drops in one of your games, keep me in mind. This was my first COC experience (as a player...I quasi GMed the sample adventure for my family after Halloween) and I was trying to go straight RP and not treat it like a dungeon crawl, but alas it's seem to have been claimed by inertia and I'll never know the eldritch horrors that lurked just around the bend.
soliloquy over, carry on
and Happy New year!

I am running a much more successful Cthulhu game on PHDs Call of the Cthulhu thread. So far it has had plenty of good rping and investigation, but now its beginning to turn more into a dungeon crawl, as the party is exploring a series of caverns. However, once/if they get out of the caves I might be able to work in a new player. You are also welcome to join my Paranoia pbp, which has been going well. The team just "finished" a mission, so its a good time to bring in a new player, and the more the merrier with that game (I think I might have lost a player with that one anyhow).

Never did Paranoia... is there a quick start somewhere? Hmmmmn

The best thing about the game is that you don't really need to know much. If you look in the discussion thread (which might be a ways back, you'll find pretty much everything you would need to know to be a player)

I found the thread...and I read some of the hilarity in the game thread, seems like alot of fun! I used the generator but my unfamiliarity with the pseudo-techno-terminology is a bit lacking.

The name of the skills alone gives a fairly general idea of when and where they might come in handy. Some aren't so clear, but I'll let you know when they apply. The rules of this game are very flexible, even more so than CoC, which makes it good for a pbp, where nit picking over the rules and tactical movement would be way too time consuming.

PHD:
I'm going to pass on the Paranoia for now. This character will still be here or in the archives for later use. I'm stretched as it is, and wouldn't want to slow the game down, I'll keep an eye on it though. Seems like you have some guys that have the setting and stuff down like veterans. Maybe after I get some more of the flavor I'll jump in or if you need some fodder for a little while. Thanks! I'm around and I'll try not to bump this thread anymore.
