If he wasn't a tiny bit older looking than seems ideal, I would love to see the head viking dude from The 13th Warrior as Thor.
I found a picture, even;
Vladimir Kulich.
Ten years ago, I would have picked Dolph Lundgren as well. He's got the build for it, although I have no idea what he would look like with long hair and I'm afraid that nobody would take a Thor that used to be 'He-Man, Master of the Universe' seriously...

Kevin Sorbo! Please God, Kevin Sorbo!
One. I fear you.
Two. What the heck is your avatar? It looks like origami. An origami golem?
I was thinking that 10 years ago Dolph could have done it also; but he stunk as the Punisher;
One of my most unconventional opinions is that Dolph's Punisher movie was way cooler than the more recent one with Travolta. The villains *make* a superhero movie, and the villains in Dolph's movie were memorable and fun (both the sarcastic Mafia dude and the domineering Yakuza lady).

1) And rightly you should.
2) It is indeed an Origami golem. from that issue of Dragon with all the lesser golems. I like golems and I like origami, therefore it seemed like the best choice. and I havn't changed ever since.

I think Michael O'Hearn is perfect for Thor.
Loki... who was the guy who played Wormtongue?

Brad Dourif? I suppose he might work.

I was thinking him because to me a movie Loki should look more brain than brawn.

Linus Roache from Law and Order could work as Loki.
If we got Karl Urban as Thor they would be reunited from Chronicles of Riddick!

Not at all. I happen to think him a fine actor, and I think he would be good in that role. otherwise I would have suggested someone else. It's possible I was a bit more fervent then I shoulda been, but I stand by my statement.

Hell yeah, that would be a great idea. Linus would be pretty slick as Loki. Now, who could play Odin.....

How about having a female for Loki that could work?
It could very well work beautifully...and also start off a S#!+storm of outcries from various groups: feminists outraged that the evil trickster has been personified in their gender, mythology gronards outraged that the purity of the pantheon has been defiled by artistic license, neo-pagans outraged by the same...
I would say that oceans of ink could be spilled over that one small change, but more likely all those words will be blogged instead.

While the Marvel universe hasn't always tread near Norse mythology, I think I would prefer a male Loki. The evil brother / good brother thing is a classic trope.
And if the show needs a 'bad girl,' Amora, the Enchantress, has always served that roll with aplomb in the comics. :)
One thing that I'm not sure about the actors being suggested for Loki is that most of them are pretty weedy. (Brad Dourif, for example.) Loki, in the comics, is pretty buff (okay, *everyone* in the comics is pretty buff, I concede that) and the mythological Loki was half-god / half-Giant, so he wasn't exactly heroin-chic or some snivelling hunched over Igor-figure. He was handsome, charming and, quite often, a valued adventuring companion to Thor, etc. in their younger years, saving their bacon through various ingenius stunts (and yeah, quite often getting their fat in the fire in the first place, so he was basically cleaning up his own messes...).

According to this bit from Sci-Fi Channel Branagh has confirmed his involvement to direct.

I'm not too thrilled with the choice of Branagh to direct. I don't mind his movies, but I'm not sure a big superhero blockbuster is a good fit for him. Its possible that they picked him because the Asgardians talk in a sort of heightened language, something that he has lots of experience with, but that's not really why anyone is going to see this movie.
