The bishop needs to get some serious healing powers. The queen can move in any direction and the knight can teleport so the bishop is just kind of "Oh, look at me, I'm a goin' diagonally!". BLeh.
Proposed rule: Any allied piece adjacent to the bishop cannot be killed by a piece with fewer hit die.
Hit die:
Queen 9
Rook 5
Bishop 4
Knight 3
Pawn 1

I like this and would suggest one modification, if the bishop is currently 'under attack' this power can not be used.

Apologies for asking a serious question, but I own this and it's pretty wild fun. Thought I would see if anyone else has.

I have not played it, but I would.
I like to bring it to company functions. People's reactions are awesome.
Gee, this feels like having tea in the middle of a firefight, talking normally in this thread.

I played a three-way chess game; some dude made the board.
Then I asked to copy his board, and he got all paranoid like I'd try to gank his idea. The problem was the two of them went after eachother, so I let them jack eachother up and acted stupid, then I jacked them both to the wall when I saw that they had less than a full range of pieces.

Anyone who has watched Aliens, or read James Jacobs' Dragon article about Malcanthet knows what Queens do. Whenever a Queen takes a piece from the other side, she should be able to replace it with one from her own side on a square next to her.
I liked the Titus Pollo/Queen Cleopatra scene in Rome the best.

Lets add some Chaos into this game that is obviously a love fest for the forces of Law:
Each turn roll a d10. If it is 9 or higher, roll 2d8. The first d8 is a the row number, the second d8 is the column number. That square disappears, any piece on it is eliminated. Player pieces may not move over or onto the missing square. If there is already a square missing from a previous roll, it re-appears and is available for play.
Oddly enough, this actually sounds like fun. now I want to try it.
Personally, I'm still trying to get someone to try Dragon Chess with me.
