Does heavy shield count as heavy armor?

A doubt I have from 3.5 which havent been clarified in pathfinder.

Can a fighter/rogue wear a heavy shield and still benefit from evasion?

Shields are separate from armor. At worst you lose 1 AC compared to a buckler anyways, which a plain Rogue can use with no penalty provided the buckler is MW quality or better.
