Judging from this picture alone, I have to say that the seugathi look much cooler and horror inducing than the mind flayers of yore.

Second Darkness quite likely... also likely to make and appearance in the Pathfinder Chronicles Into the Darklands (Linked in the Blog Entry).
Overall a cool looking monster. It would be nice if there were a human sized character around for perspective. Looks like it raises up to around 4-6' and is probably 10' in total length unless it's lower body is supported some other way.
Edit: Ninja'd durn it.

I still like the illithid better.
The seugathi looks like a weird worm. The illithid actually looks like a sentient being and far more creepy (to me).
Non-humanoid = Non-Sentient? The fact that it's wielding a dagger and a wand tells you it's not stupid.
Edit: That sounded a bit snarky, didn't it? My apologies. I didn't intend to come across that way. :)

I guess missing that AP gives me a different outlook. Personally, the mind flayers are just another weird looking humanoid.
Maybe a mind flayer replacement should look like Mobogo. Then we'd all be complaining "Here's another crazy creature that looks like a three eyed winged frog".

Seugathi are Large. That one's probably rearing up as tall as a human, with a bit of its body still off screen.

When you go otherworldy, you go all the way. I've liked mindflayers because of what they were, but in spite what they looked like. On the "wierd incomprehensible creatures from outer space" totem pole, mindflayers are at the bottom.
Well, there's certainly no shortage of evil worm-guys in D&D:
Some worm-guysA worm-guy with some goofy-looking weapons
Another worm-guy
A slightly different worm-guy
Hey, don't forget about this worm-guy!
I look forward to reading all about Pathfinder's new evil worm-guy. He's following in an honoured tradition of excellence. :-)

And this guy made of worms.
And a slightly different take on things made of worms.
This one is more of a crawly-type worm.
And of course, who could forget these?
Interesting...in the gallery archive, it lists the Kyuss as "Son of Kyuss", the original name, whereas in MM2 it is "Spawn of Kyuss". Anyone have an idea why the name changed?

This is correct.

Must not forget the best worm of all.
Awesome.

Thanks, James! I like "Spawn" better anyways, it just has a slimy, icky ring to it. Son of Kyuss makes me think of this.

Must not forget the best worm of all.
I must correct you, there.
I believe you meant THIS?
"Earthworm Jim,
From the soil he did crawl
Earthworm Jim,
A super suit did fall
Jim was just a dirt eating,
Chewing length of worm, flash
But all that came to a crash
And gave him lots of power
Earthworm Jim,
He's such a groovy guy
Earthworm Jim,
He rockets through the sky
Cruising through the universe
Having lots of fun,
Here comes Earthworm Jim you know
That he's the mighty one
Look out!
La la la la, la la la la, la la la ...
Despite his great big muscles
And his really big ray gun,
Jim is still an earthworm
But then he's the only one,
With a super suit to make him really super strong,
Jim can be a winner if we only sing along ...
(ALRIGHT)
Earthworm Jim,
We think he's mighty fine
Earthworm Jim,
A hero for all time
Earthworm,
Earthworm,
Earthworm,
Earthworm, Jim
Hooray for Jimmmmmmmm
-Groovy."

I am so afraid to open those links at work... there is just no telling what sick puppies have linked to.
That being said I like the new work guy (though spelling its name from memory is never going to happen), I LOVED the Illithid, and why do we need something to fill the Beholder spot... never liked the Beholder anyway.

I must agre with Penny as long as we are talking of humanoid creatures. For me part of the mindF sense of dread was his humanoid form, which made it "blendable" among humanoids and speaks of a creepy origin -tadpole+humanoid=mind flayer- Yet the worm creature its a complete different concept. So in a way, we have to like them separately! :P
Speaking of worms... Do you want worms? I'll give you the Pathfinder Worm

One has to wonder how that picture made it past the editors at WotC.

yuck...these are all terrible! The last one reminds me too much of a wind sock (yeah I know it plays an important part in FR mythos, but it is still a pathetic looking monster).

I think that one was to provide the other side of the tojanida's rather anatomical inspirations.
