How much does it take to get perma-banned?

Hello Paizo,
I don't understand why Phychic Robot has not been banned. He and a few others are trashing the boards with personal attacks, utter contempt for the posters and employees of Paizo, and is just dragging down the demeanor of the boards.
I don't see why this is being tolerated. Is it against policy to permanently ban someone? If so how about a mini-ban? I grow tired of watching him post things like 'Aubrey the Fail-formed' and the other venom he tosses about.
I petition for him being perma-banned.

Can I sign?

Seriously though. I really don't feel that he is contributing anything that other people can't and don't. But much worse -- He really seems to be making it his goal to piss off some really great people here. And every indication seems to show that he has no intention of stopping that attitude.

He can be pretty harsh. I generally choose to just ignore his posts at this point.

Fakey, you've been here longer than I have, but I've never seen anyone get perma-banned. At worst, people get a one week time-out. I think it's against the spirit of the boards to perma-ban someone.

At least at this point.

If he continues with his diatribes after being given warnings and a time-out, well then I'll guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I'm hoping he just cools it though. He may have some good points to offer, but I can't get through the venom to digest anything he's offering up.

During the Frank Trollman incident I asked (with much regret) for an ignore function.
It seems it's time to reiterate the request.

For the time being, I'll just stay out of the PF beta forums. Seeing a couple of threads and the general tone ("OMG it's broken so bad it bleeds brokenness on my game apply my fix or you'll be playing broken for eternity") has been more than enough.

I'm sending Psychic Robot an email. His "fail-formed" thing was over the line.

Which is sad, since driving away potential insight and players is the exact opposite of the point of this playtest.

I agree there should be less leeway with regards to bad posts. I've come from a server where flamming or such after a warning gets you perma-banned. Harsh maybe, but no-one flames, not for long at least.

And apparently I just broke that thread so it's no longer appearing. Not that I'm convinced that's a terrible thing, but I'll bring it back.

I 100% agree. He actually has some valid input and I would love to be able to discuss some of the points he brings up. I would love to have his input in a mature and respectful-of-others fashion, but I just don't think that is an option. He can't seem to apply a manner-filter on his posts.

Also I can't avoid the Beta threads as I am trying to help and provide some input also. It is an important topic to me right now.

I don't care about how he behaves anywhere but here.

Keep in mind that different places on the internet have different community standards for behavior. His behavior on that other site is not out of line there. It would be here, and so far I think he's making an effort to fit in to our community -- I just think he needs to try harder.

He's had a warning. Let's see how he does.

Thank you Gary.

I'm blunt, but I look at those posts and go "Gods, I hope I'm not that rude." Quickly followed by, "Gods I hope I can still type English, clear some folks can't."

Kevin Mack and Fakey, I've suppressed your posts which consisted of links to Psychic Robot's posts on another website. We don't need to get all internet-stalkery or participate in some sort of inter-website comment war here -- those things never end well.

Like I said, all I care about is how he behaves here. Give him a chance to post after his warning before breaking out the pitchforks and torches.

So is that the go-ahead to break out the pitchforks and torches if he DOESN'T adjust his behaviour? ;)

::begins sharpening pitchfork::

I'm kidding of course, everyody deserves a chance.

For my part, this board got a lot less interesting when he and a few others showed up.

You know any high profile moment like the beta release is going to bring these folks out of the woodwork. It'll be over soon.

So if im understanding correctly its okay for him to make insulting Links to this website for the single purpose at having a laugh at us?

Well, I'm pretty new to the posts but I had already seen a nasty part of it, so here it goes.

I think Paizo's doing the right thing by only giving serious warnings and editing-deleting some offensive posts. Some guy want Paizo to point the offense but I believe its unnecessary since its common sense what's offensive, and pointing it would be double-posting the same rant.

Permanently-banned posters will only vent their rage somewhere else, and that can bring heavier consecuenses for Paizo's image; which is not bad at all but an angry person can write really nasty stuff -even if its all lies or a mistakenly point of view- in lots of other message boards and hurt Paizo's image. Of course what Paizo should care the most is its own message boards, but public relations its always an important matter. Then, if all comes to worst... out with them!

These kind of posters are like children throwing a fit. They have their point -and sometimes really good points- but for some reason they need more attention (just look at the thread name...). So in order to get more attention some post it in a funny way, some poste it in an ofensive way, etc. Of course they need to be ask for "decency", but continuing to argue about their rudeness its just giving they attention they crave for, so they continue defending their "point of view" since retracting would call off the attention they seek. So I think the best way to turn the heat down its to ignore them and just reply on those interesting points worth posting.

Its sad that even Erik Mona had to jump in to try to draw the line... After that I think that the best way to handle these situations came up, and a new thread started listing the same points but now in a serious way. And even PsyRob posted in a more calmed way!.

Well, that's just my point of view

Sure. You can't police the entire internet for speech you don't like, and I wouldn't want to live in a world where you could.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

Yes, I've seen it. I think it's pretty foul, but he's the one who has to live with that type of public conduct on his Permanent Internet Record, and anyway, like I said, it's someone else's site. I only care about what people do here.
