Channel Energy for Varient Clerics that Don't Have Turn / Rebuke

Hello All,

There are a number of variant clerics that don't have turn / rebuke undead as a class feature.

What does one do with channel positive / negative energy in this case?

Remove it as well?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Channel Energy was an upgrade/rework to turn/rebuke undead. If a cleric variant did not have turn/rebuke undead then I would assume the would not have channel energy. If they had another power similar to Turn Undead then perhaps a reworking of that power would be in order. For example if a variant cleric had Turn/Rebuke Platapi then its a simple matter to say that Channel Energy for them would harm/heal Platapi and can cause Platapi to flee on a failed save.

I channel positive platipi energy all the time, trust me you don't want to know

HHHHmmm???...........Are the party members Platapi?...........No?....well dang....um............Could it turn them in to Platapi?

Well that's a thought. I was just thinking, channeling affects undead and the PCs, shouldn't channel platipi energy affect them in some way? I'm thinking that if one of the characters is a man-duck like Howard the Duck there might be some negative effects... an itchy bill?

This is only half in jest because I wonder exactly this about channeling against elementals. If you channel energy against a fire elemental does it send a wave of chill?

In the case of fire elementals I would have it harm/fear Fire elementals and heal water elementals. I would see the energy releases as a wave of the essence of elemental water rather than a direct manifestation of such. So it wouldnt cause frost to form or get things in the area wet.

I guess Turn Platapi could heal Achidnas? Maybe?
