For those of you that have started running this campaign I was wondering how the "loot-level" is working out for you. I am currently playing in RotR, and we've had a great deal of trouble accumulating enough loot for our tastes, the PCs feel poor, and feel like they have to make compromises on their gear in order to survive. We dang near got eaten by Freezmaw, and none of the melee-types could hit Freezmaw without generating a 19 or 20. The wizard had to burn it down.
Just looking for general feedback on how the PCs are making out so far in CotCT.

They are sitting on a goodly amount of saleable goods recovered from Gaedren Lamm (they returned the inscribed ring and bags of coin to the Guard), have wands of acid splash (nice for rogues sneak attacking from nearby) and magic missile (always spiffy), were recently rewarded 1,200 gp by the Queen, and are looking at another 1,000 gp from Cressida Croft, assuming they do as well against Verik as they did against his toadies. They just recently hit 2nd level. They're good so far, but then again, we're only 1/3 of the way through the first of six adventures.

Isn't Freezemaw supposed to be very difficult to take down, and become more than one encounter?

We fought Freezmaw over the course of a three day span in two different locations, and it ate our Leadership feat (the party bard). We figured it drank most of the loot it would have had otherwise.
If it weren't such a straightforward battle I probably would not have disliked it so much, but it really highlighted our general lack of success at dealing with BBEGs due to our paucity of high-quality loot.
