Any chance of a second running of Acension of the Drow at Gencon?

Since Acension of the Drow sold out so fast.. is there any chance of a second running, perhaps on Saturday? It seemed like a wildly popular event...

Probably not, so I'm not pinning my hopes on it or anything.. :)

But if you never ask, then there is no chance of it even being considered.

Please consider this as 'putting the thought in your heads'

I asked a couple of times too, Still have not heard yet. Hopefully, they'll be enough interest and resources to do another. It is the only event I need to complete my Paizo GenCon sweep.

While it would be awesome to do so, I think another slot of Ascension would MURDERIZE our volunteer GMs and also be hard for Gencon to place at this stage.

Let's say someone was to "disappear" before the event, how could I grab the spot and where would I dump the body?

What if you were to get more volunteer DMs? do you think there will be room to open a few more tables? :)

Unfortunately this event is sold out and won't be expanded.

Knowing how fast it sold out and how popular of a concept it has been, we'll keep those things in mind when scheduling our events at Gen Con 2009.

Please do. My brother and I are planning to attend our first Con for the PRPG release and we're really looking forward to it!

Thanks Lilith! Great to meet you as well! As for the avatar I just happened to stumble on it and lets face it there is nothing sexier than a saytr...or so they always think. Loved the event and I have an EPIC idea for another just waiting to hear back from Nick or Frost.

It will be even better the next year!!!!!

Evil man you have to post up your Big Fish story. We are still laughing about it.

Tell you what I'll do better than that I'll record it and post it up for all to see. I'll do it tonight and set it up.

It was a tremendous experience for me as well. I got to DM House Moivais. I had no clue what it was going to be. I had miniatures and battlemats and rule books and a DM's screen. Totally useless....except the battlemats.

I loved it when Nick told me "okay, you're the Tarrasque, go attack anyone you want!" I've always wanted to be a Tarrasque, I think.

I had some trepidations (more than that actually) about the format of the event, having not played Hellfire Congress, but the absolute brilliance of the organizers and fellow DMs that knew what they were doing ensured an incredible roller coaster thrill ride for all of us.

Not everyone was happy, but that's impossible to accomplish with that many people. Even those who didn't care for the format will never forget this event, that's for sure.

great meeting you both as well.

the Aboleth story is becoming legend.

I hope so. It was one of the funniest things at a Con I have ever seen.

Now that's a well told gaming anecdote.

Your antics at Iron DM were one of the funniest things at a Con I have ever seen.

Thanks a ton! I wanted a show for those that paid to play and I have even bigger hopes for next year!

Next year I'd like to have four cameras covering the room -- digging deeper into every DM's story the way poker shows reveal what cards the players are working with. In voiceover I'd probably summarize every DM's storyline, but I'd ask the DMs, when engaging a major event in their game, to call a cameraperson over and to, momentarily ripped away from their game, quickly explain what's going on at his or her table. Once I can get this to be a yearly, hour long film with an actual sense of narrative and suspense, we'll be golden.

And next year do let me know ahead of time when you're doing something big so I don't keep my camera down by my hip as I stare on aghast, actually believing your stunt lock, stock and barrel ;)

Down with retelling the story but not in the middle of the game. It breaks stride for the event.

Necessary Evil wrote:

You'z right. I didn't word it properly. Some people had minute long breaks at their table and so just called me over and went for it. I think it actually kept their player's attention still in the game.

It would absolutely be a disaster to actually interrupt sessions in play.

I'll have to devise a system for getting DMs to explain their game after the fact. If it's going to get this in depth, I want to be able to write superimposed x's and o's across the screen. ;)

Hey, Just wanted to say that I had a blast at the event and Erik you and everyone else did an amazing job. I was the guy playing Slarin Moiavis btw.

So I'm curious as to what product all this craziness will be published in. Is it going to be one of the adventure paths? Or a separate module?

Great to meet some of the guys behind all the great work Paizo puts out! Keep it up!

Oh and Farewell2kings, glad to have you as a GM out there.

MittenNinja wrote:

Thanks! I was as lost as many of the players were at times, but it sure was memorable. I'm glad I checked this thread, otherwise I'd have never heard of the Aboleth story.

I loved the way you played Slarin. Excellent drow role-playing.

Okay, you can go all John Madden on us if you want to, but please refrain from pointing out the sweat running down the cracks of GM's rear ends, the way Madden used to do back when he went all ape s@*+ with that marker thingy that lets him draw on the TV and show it all the world. I think they made him quit doing that in the late 90's.

<G> Did he really do that? Surely a sign of impending mental collapse.

If there was cracksweat at Iron DM, it was the tree falling in the forest. One of the DMs, a Carpe DM, wore a really nice tux to the event (which he soon stripped off in favor of his muscle shirt and jeans underneath), and another came dressed as a professor. That plus the fact that none of the DMs wore sweatpants? We're classin' up the joint!

Would someone else please tell the Nick Logue doing his morning workout in the hotel room story? It's not mine to tell, but it is unforgettably funny.

Hey Necessary Evils I wanted to thank you for running the 4e game for us. It was a lot of fun even though I had to be the worst Warlock ever in a game. I like your world, let me know if you plan on doing a box set like you were talking about I will buy one in a heart beat.

Will do. I'm working on it over the next few months and putting a PDF together first. The video game company is keeping me pretty dang busy so i may slow my down a bit.

Thanks again for playing in my world as well. Its great to hear what people think of it.

The Exchange

So its been awhile since i posted here but i have 3 things that i'll ball up here.

1. The box set is something I am working on but trying to figure out if its going to be 4th or Paizo Patherfinder. The campaign world is almost completed.

2. I am starting up my own video game company called Sunder Studios and our first game is going to be set in the same world i ran at GenCon. Not only will be set there but it will be built in an episodic style.

3. Wasn't the stuff we did at Ascension of the Drow supposed to how up in a Pathfinder issue?

I believe it happens before or during the first few parts of second darkness, leading up to the second darkness PCs happening upon the drow city

The Exchange

I have them all and I have been looking through them. It can't be the first few parts because those where out. I just got 16 and the map seem familiar but looking for some of the events that where recorded. Such as who took the crown, the poison gas, the falling aboleth...ok that won't be in there but still.

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2013

Should be mention of my girl Sho-benigm in the fourth adventure. Her last name should be Sardavic, but it might have been changed to the nhouse she allied with to keep herself alive.

All praise to Socothbenoth, coming to a Superstar submission near you!

Try starting a new thread aimed Wes's way? I typed up all the notes from the event and turned them over to him; so, I figure he'd know what's what.

Will do Lou. I'll start it tonight.
