I always thought some monk weapons for other parts of the body would be cool. Like hard knee-pads or special shoes, since monks can fight with every part of their body.
oh, and for any who might not know, the "lajatang" is an exotic monk weapon in Complete Warrior. Just in case anyone wanted to know :D

Monk is my favorite class, and it always bothered me that such a flavorful character-type was pretty boring in RAW. There are PrCs in 3e that helped with that, but I think an extensive list of Feats surrounding a 'favored weapon' would do wonders for the class, and add some of that missing flavor back in.
The first level of the Feat (Weapon Kata?) would give you proficiency with that weapon (and perhaps some bonus, like the ability to use it with the Monk's Flurry), and then other feats can be taken with that as a pre-requisite, either creating specific Feats for each Oriental Weapon, or just allowing some of the fighter Feats to be applied to the Monk's favored Weapon while he is flurrying.
Thats a little powerful... maybe have an initial Feat of Weapon Flurry that grants the Flurry ability to all Simple Weapons, and then make that a pre-requisite for 'Weapon Kata', with the above rules applying (flurry).

Many of the points have been covered in this thread. Building styles (such as the OGL Fighting Styles in Unearthed Arcana) into the class that have different "monk weapons" would be a good thing, IMO.

Sure... for a supplement sourcebook. Not for a core book.

Considering the addition of bloodlines to the Pathfinder sorcerer, a handful of generic fighting styles (like those in Unearthed Arcana) shouldn't be too much work and would take up two pages (taking into account the need to add the "monk weapons" and a couple feats to each style). The Fighting Styles in Unearthed Arcana took up just slightly more than a page.
