Green Ronin Sale - shipping costs?

Customer Service

Just wanted to check - do the international shipping costs for these books really start at $30 for a single book?

The store currenty gives me a minimum quote of $30'ish S&H for any single Green Ronin Sale book, and this skyrockets as I add more to my shopping cart, reaching $45-50 for only 3 or 4 books.

Pricing error in the webstore software or a genuine price that means that this deal is one that all non-US shoppers are priced out of?

I just ordered three books and got them shipped to France for $13.75 (that includes a new Paizo discount for international orders over $25.00). May it be a bug related to the specific country you're trying to ship them to?

Edit : Hum… Now, it's true that if I add the Black Company RPG to my cart, shipping starts at $19. This must be a big book. I ordered Eternal Rome, the Medieval Player's Manual and the Freeport Trilogy for $13.75.

Eternal Rome is $30 shipping to the UK - thats what triggered my question.

I'm interested in a few others as well, but UK shipping is a killer.

Dark Archive

I've just been playing around with placing different items in my orders and that's what I realised.

- I try to order 3 mags + 1 flip mat and get a prospective shipping rate (for the UK) of roughly $12.
- I add one hard cover (Advanced Bestiary) and the shipping goes up to $40. Why? Because now the ordering program automatically chooses priority shipping (6-10 days) and wouldn't let me have it otherwise.

So it's probably a bug and before they fix it there's no way to place an order which includes a hard cover. Unless, that is, the cheaper rate applies to magazines only.

Yah my shipping costs seems to have almost doubled as well, to China.

I can only select USPS priority, which is lame. I can't really afford to order stuff anymore.

Folks,

The last USPS rate revision did some pretty major stuff with respect to Surface Mail (it no longer exists) and Bound Printed Matter rates (Paizo can't really use them). (If you'd like more details about how it might affect you and what we're doing about it, read my posts in this thread.)

The upshot of this is that international shipments are now strictly on a per-pound basis up to 4 pounds, and anything over 4 pounds can only go Priority. (Books are *roughly* 1 pound per 100 pages.)

crazy_cat,

I suspect that at some point, you had more than 4 pounds of stuff in your cart, which sets the default for the cart to Priority. If you then remove stuff, the cart doesn't know that you want to go back to Standard Postal Delivery—you need to select that in the Shipping Method Pop-up, and you'll see the lower charge (in the case of Eternal Rome, it should show $10.13 to ship to the UK).

Windjammer and Kruelaid,

It sounds like you went over 4 pounds. You'll probably do better to break your order into two smaller orders, so we can ship them Standard instead of Priority. In the future, we plan to make our system smart enough to break such orders out automatically, but it might be a few months before that's ready.

By the way, something interesting happened to my order (#959629).

This is what I had on the order confirmation page, and in the confirmation email :

I'm really happy to see that my order got bumped to USPS Priority Mail with no added charges for me, but… I can't really understand how you make money on a $40 order if you give back $24 in shipping discount.

Is that a bug (you should definitely fix that fast, then) or a feature (thanks a lot, but I can't believe it)?

Thanks. Sorted now. Orders placed.

D'oh—that is indeed not intended. We'll assign it to bughunter Gary. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Hey Vic!

It's not that I really want to pay full price for this order but… well I'm still seeing rather strange things here. There's a line on my bank account statement today that says :

06/06/08 CB ETRANGER 04/06 PAIZO PUBLIS -26,17

"04/06" being the French date format for June, 4th, order #959629 having been shipped the 3rd, and me having no other pending order at Paizo, I am pretty sure 26.17 euros is what I got charged for this order.
Now, this includes a 2.5% VISA fee for international transactions and June, 4th Euro to USD rate being somewhere near 1.545 according to Google Finance, this looks like a $39.45 charge, which is dangerously close to the $39.41 subtotal line of my order.

Hum… You're absolutely positive you did charge me for shipping on this order, right? Or do you now charge for shipping separately?

Of course, I'll be happy if I can keep free shipping with this order. But you may want to check things thoroughly on your side.

I hope this helps!

Fayries,

I just noticed the same thing with my order here stateside. I didn't pay attention to the shipping and handling, since (after the difficulties of getting the GR stuff last time) I just wanted to get my order placed and out.

Due to a bug, we did charge shipping as a separate transaction for some orders this past week. This should be fixed going forward. Thanks for pointing it out, though!

So we'll see two charges on the credit card then?

Yes. And most likely not on the same day.
