Seltyiel - the iconic with a secret trinket!

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

So I was checking out (not like that!) the new iconic and appreciating that same high level of detail as the others. Really, all these guys look cool.
I noticed that Seltyiel has something at his waist - it could be a compass, it could be a pocket watch, it could be a snuff box.... I'm not sure though. My main thinking was - "That's cool! They have pocket watches on Golarion!" Then I thought, "Hang on. Is it a watch?"

So what is it?

For those who can't see what I'm talking about, I've put a little circle around it here

Peace,

It's a combination lock! Seltyiel needed it for his gym locker and to keep his bike from being stolen.

Seriously, it looks like a largish locket.

It's a piece of flair. His employers require him to wear 15 pieces of flair while he's at work, to help him express himself.

That one is flipped backwards, but on the other side is a picture of a cat and the inscription: "I hate Moondays."

It is a Pathfinder, silly!

Ouch. Did anyone ask Rick Flair before he started carving off 15 pieces?

You know...15 pieces is really only the minimum amount of flair required . . .

There is always the...

Spoiler:
The unHoly Hand Grenade !!

Couldn't help myself, it looks like a compass to me.

I think you mean wayfinder. That was my first thought as well. :)

Who actually comes up with the design of the iconics? Does WAR get the editor's very detailed description down to the look of the iconic's belt buckle or is he given fairly free rein to do as he pleases?

He's generally given free rein. He's a much better character designer than we are, so we give him the general information we want to see plus any specific tidbits we want to make sure get into the pic. Otherwise, it's all WAR.

It's a mystery item of this group of Iconics, like the Wakizashi on Seoni's back. I'm more curious about the vial of liquid.. acid? ;)

That's what I meant by 'compass' - couldn't remember the name of it! Still not sure if the PCs in our first Pathfinder campaign will be Pathfinders or not. If so, I'll have to get used to it.

Wayfinder not compass

I think those wayfinders aren't just compasses, though. They probably have the whole Jack Sparrow thing going on. Drink a dozen ales too many too fast and it shows you the shortest route to the Johns.

It's a pill case isn't it?

From the colour, I'd say it's a bottle of Brut aftershave.

Henry Cooper and Kevin Keegan want it back!

It's the ripcord for his emo parachute. Every few weeks Seltyiel throws a little hissy and throws himself from whatever cliff/tower/cloud-city the party happens to be near. The other iconics are pretty much used to it, especially when Harsk starts in on the Elric jokes.

He looks quite capable, so he can't be an emo. He must be a goth.

I think the trinket has the unholy symbol of Bauhaus on it!

It could be a pathfinder. Yes, pathfinder - or at least part of one. "I love you pathfinder guys. I knew one once. In fact, part of her is close to my heart always"

Wasn't that one of Fred Saberhagen's artifact swords from the series of the same name? It would get you where you want to go or find what or whom you needed to find, but it would always choose the "interesting" route.
