Heal skill seem to be better than Remove Disease spell

The new version of Remove Desease (since release 2) makes the caster to roll against desease DC using caster level.
You can help another to pass the desease DC with you Heal skill, this has some advantages:
Heal skill maxed is Level+ Will bonus + 3,
and you can take 10 in the check.

So, now this spell seems a bit underpowered. One possible solution could be to give the caster the option to make a Heal check instead of caster level check.

Actually it might make sense to allow for a synergistic bonus to happen if the caster has the Heal skill.

Liberty's Edge

Remove Disease, however, allows you to remove all diseases simultaneously and instantaneously, and also requirees only one roll. Heal allows you to substitute your rolls for the victim's rolls, which, with the new disease rules, could be any number of consecutive daily rolls taking 10 minutes each day.


The Heal skill also exposes you to the disease, in case anybody missed that detail. Sure hope you're not trying to treat the plague I'm named for.

The new text says that the caster must roll for each disease.
I like the idea, because make diseases more dangerous.
Before, this spell was the best option to remove a disease, but now Heal skill seems better. Of course, this requires to wait more days.
The only advantage for the spell is that can be cast more times in a day. Perhaps this is enough.


You could simply make the spell use the mechanic and give a bonus to your Heal check.

Basically, cast the spell, use a Heal check to see if you can get rid of it immediately, bonus to check of + 1/2 caster level. Voila, best of both worlds.


Another thing to consider:

Heal skill doesn't work on supernatural diseases, only Remove Disease magic. And the supernatural diseases are the worst of the lot.
