That explains why I was inspired to go down to the recruitment center. I was turned away because I came brandishing my broadsword and breastplate.

I thought it was because you tried to eat the recruiter?

Very nice. Maybe some of us should stick the link in our sig on other forums to help promote Paizo and Pathfinder.

Holy $^&#

That was awesome!

The music is by Mark Isham and is from the Army campaign, not the Marines. How in the world anyone could confuse a sailor, I mean, um, Marine with a Soldier is unconscionable...

;-)

If you like the music, you can download it for free from any number of sites, including the official Army homepage. :-)

Thanks Andrew, found the linky.

I've watched it about 5 or 6 times now. It makes me want to play something fierce.

As a note, the Army Field Band --lest anyone think all bandies are wimps-- have a very important additional duty during times of war: they act as the Personal Security Detachment for high ranking personalities, like Commanding Generals. The training for this is quite intense.

They not only are number one with a trumpet, but expert marksmen, and masters at close-combat. :-)

Hmmmmm. Sounds like the ultimate template for a new bard class to me.....

Andrew, thanks for that, and I've fixed the link in your original post to point to the new version.

Sweet!

Loved it! Wish I had more to add to the conversation, but just, loved it! I will be sharing this with my group!

Very cool....makes me get all goosebumpy like the 1st time I saw the LoTR trailer. Well done sir. Well done.

Dark Archive

I think this awesomeness is worthy of TV. Paizo should use it (assuming they can, and have the money to do so).

I have yet to see any Pathfinder products in the town I live except for the items I own myself. A good commercial would go a long way to getting the news out there.

I actually bumped into two guys who hadn't heard anything about Pathfinder last night waiting in line for Ironman. I was quick to inform them of the absolute uberness of Paizo.

Dark Archive

Ouch, my apologies Andrew. Leave it to a civilian to confuse the Marines with the Army...

I guess I just assumed it was the Marines because they are the ones who always seem to be fighting magma golems in deadly arena-dungeons in their commercials.

Check YouTube for "USMC Contest of Honor" for an example...

fantastic, excellent, bloody great.

Liberty's Edge

Andrew, that is fantastic! My only wish is that it could be added to my Paizo account in the "my downloads" section.

Nice job!

Must Always Ride In Navy Equipment, Sadly.

First thanks for makeing the lovely video. Second, does this mean that there are trumpets affixed with bayonets out there? Because that would also be lovley.

This was so full of win it practically exploded, showering us all with bits of 'win chunks'!

You rock Andrew!

...Ew. I got one in my figurative hair.

This was so awesome.... so when is the movie getting released?
I vote Gerard Butler for Valeros.

Liberty's Edge

Here are my picks (this is what I do when I get bored - think up actors for book / game characters):

Joe Flanagan (Stargate Atlantis) as Valeros
Summer Glau (Firefly) as Merisiel
Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica) as Seoni
Gina Torres (Firefly) as Kyra
Brian Warner (Lost Highway) as Karzoug

Jonathan M. Woodward (Firefly) as Lem
Adam Baldwin (Chuck) as Harsk
Henry Rollins (Johnny Mnemonic) as Ezren
Freema Agyeman (Dr. Who) as Seelah
Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) as Queen Ileosa

Spoiler:
Unfortunately, if you take a look at this video from now on, you will see that ratings have been disabled and all comments must be personally vetted by me before they will post. Unlike Paizo, I am not obliged to allow complete freedom of speech.

I encourage constructive criticism in all forms, but not to the detriment of good order where such criticism is self-serving and specifically designed to incite and abuse; and not against personalities who played no part in the production of the video--I will not pander to an individual's base need to insult or belittle.

The Pathfinder video is not provided as a means for an antagonistically anti-Paizo/anti-v3.5, or inflammatory pro-4e forum of negative rhetoric, and as such the comments section is reserved for critical commentary or questions regarding the video content.

That was Super Nerd.

I love it.

I would watch it for these two alone.

Whoah!

What sort of problem comments did you get?

Were they from anyone we know?

Snorter wrote:

I won't name names, but I'm sure they know who they are... It was the same sort of tripe we are sometimes accosted with here--

Spoiler:

There were no less than eight negative, uninformative, injurious comments. I deleted them all. Here's a few--

-"Paizo sucks balls..." blah-blah-blah

-"Stupid to ditch 4e for a obsolet system. paizo is run by idiots" more blah

-"paizo lost a valuable customer when they decided to hang on to D*D 3.5. its a dead game and there a dead in the water co" blah

and my personal favorite--

-"everyone at paizo was fired by wizards because they suck! paizo is full of shitty writers"

If someone wants to say: "Andrew, this video is boring-it sucks" or "great job" or "the transitions are way off" or "the music blows fetid chunks" or "yr so kewl"--fine. But don't use the opportunity of comment in order to make abusive rhetoric or insult third parties. "James Jacobs sucks!" is nothing more than a childish, personal attack against someone who had nothing to do with the video.

I just hope that those folk weren't Paizonians.

Urgh. No wonder you've been venting on some threads around here. Is that why you were so annoyed about a particular person, where I responded perhaps a touch unkindly with a suggestion you might be baiting? If so, I'm sorry, but you didn't give any context to that post.

Congrats dude, this made the front page of EnWorld! (Possibly a source of said worthless commentary on your video.)

That's my best bet as well. I try to stay away from ENWorld. There be dragons.

Hmm...I missed this one. I have been unusually surly of late, and I've made a couple posts I later recanted (deleted) because I realized they were blatantly baits to argue, or simply mean-spirited... maybe you saw one of those before my better judgement took charge.

One thing that seems worse than it used to be is it seems like every time someone comes up with something fun or inspiring, a mean-spirited person or two will pop up and try to wreck the good experience.

This is an amazing video, Andrew. I showed it to my girlfriend and she immediately wanted to take out the starter 3.5 box that I bought so we could show her nephews how to play over the summer. It had been gathering dust for weeks, and what you made got us to take it off the shelf and play with it.

Your video made a lot of people's day a lot more enjoyable, and I hope our appreciation can outweigh the nasty comments. Thanks again for making it and sharing it.

Wow. I know I'm late to the party, but that's really cool.

Wow. I have to say I have no interest in Pathfinder products; but I love the art work and that was one hell of a video. Nice job.

Bloody awesome!

Some people just cannot accept good things made by others.
Out of frustration, jaleousy ou whatever compulsion, they just have to criticize, denigrate or insult.
The way i see it, that's a form of compliment ;)

Very nice work, Andrew.

Here's a story for ya:

My friend Tom enlisted, and was counting on making Eagle Scout so he'd get recommended for an officer's job after high school.

Instead, he got in trouble with the law after accidentally shooting a propane tank with a shotgun in a residential area (he was aiming for the cat under the tank).

Now, he's mopping decks on a battleship in the Persian Gulf.

Just finally caught up with this Andrew (no youtube fromwork :(

Nicely done!

Still good after 2500 views :) check it out.

The Pathfinders of Golarion is a little tribute I made in recognition of all the outstanding work everyone at Paizo has done so far. It's got some pretty cool music (so be sure you turn up your speakers) and it's only a couple minutes long.

For the best viewing, I encourage you to watch the video in High Quality, and do not elect to try the Beta Viewer. :-)

PostMonster General edit: Fixed link to point to new version. Still full of awesome. And win.
