While I love the bloodline and are keeping them, I am changing the spells to that progression and style of casting to that of warmage and beguiler. Spell list will be given per bloodline like celestial will have spells taken from the cleric spell list. Fey bloodline might have druid list, Arcane wizards, etc. Haven't decided if I should allow the players to pick the spells. Added advanced learning at the same levels and sudden spells as well.

That is actually a nice (maybe even great) idea!

If you want players to have a specific spell, try swiping a page from PHB, specifically the old domains. One spell per level that the character adds to their spells known, for example. Although personally, I'd like to see a list of spells available to choose from. The key point is to make certain that all the spells balance between all bloodlines, and that the addition of the 'free' spells doesn't overbalance the sorcerer class.

If you want to nit-pick, I think there's a feat that lets you add a spell to the list of spells you know. So technically the above proposal can be argued as nine 'extra' feats the sorcerer would be getting.

That said, I've no problem adding such spell lists to the bloodlines, even if it means weakening the powers slightly. Possibly alternate bloodline variants, so there's a combat, utility, and mystic version of each bloodline.

Lol, you could then have red dragon sorcerers hating red dragon sorcerers for having 'inferior' bloodlines and not showing them proper respect. Even if there's no mechanical difference, I'm tempted to add that to my game. (But I still want to see paladins using SMITE on each other first.)

It's not about adding a couple spells. It's about give out a specific spell list per Bloodline. I never liked how limited sorcerers are not only in spells they knew but if you picked the wrong ones, sucks to be you. The warmage style of casting to me is what I think of as sorcerers. It's going more work for me but I'll like more and I think so will the players.

I can see how this could quite possibly work... Especially if you gave Sorcs the ability to use light armor.

it would bring them along quite nicely with the "Sorcerer-style" classes that came later (Beguiler, Warmage and such).

In doing so, you can make it so they have a few utility and defensive spells alongside the classic powerhouse spells.

They'd still be limited in number, and not allowed to go outside their list (except the few bloodlines that allow for that, like the Arcane one).

The only thing is, what spells do you give the stranger bloodlines?

These are given:

Arcane: Classic wizard spells.
Celestial: Classic cleric spells, definitely the attack spells, some standard healing?
Elemental: Energy damage spells of course.
Fey: Classic druid spells.
Undead: Necromantic spells pulled from both cleric and wizard lists, similar to the Dread Necromancer list from Heroes of Horror.

However, the following are hard to decide on:

Aberrant: ?? No clue what fits here.
Abyssal: Other than evil cleric spells and summoning evil creatures, not sure what spells make this list unique.
Destined: Luck based spells?
Draconic: Dragonkin polymorph? Giving too many elemental spells because dragons have elemental breath attacks takes away from the Elemental bloodline.
Infernal: Same as abyssal.

Some bloodlines will have some spell over, lap no doubt. I was thinking dragon blooded list would have a little of everything possiblily arcane and cleric also you can even go so much in different list for each dragon.

A combination of transformation and mind-affectings, I'd imagine. Which might make it eerily similar to a Fey background, which would be heavily into illusion and mind-affectings...

You can give a special access (bonus spells) to clerical domains, spell lists or schools :

- Aberrant : Transmutation (Polymorph)
- Arcane : Magic domain
- Celestial : Good & Protection
- Demonic : Evil & Chaos
- Diabolic : Evil & Law
- Elemental : One Elemental domain (Air, Earth, Fire or Water)
- Fey : Druidic spells (or Charm ?)
- Undead : Death domain

Looking more for a whole list Example "my sorcerer with celestial bloodline has this list of first level spells. Bless, Bless water, Command, clw, Detect Evil,Protection from evil, Divine Favor, magic weapon, remove fear, Nimbus of light, Lessor vigor, Sanctuary, Shield of faith.

He can cast any 0 level spells 5 per day, and 3 1st spells off the list above. As you can see I don't want to really add to a list but want a complete list to show just how special each bloodline is.
