I was pleasantly surprised to see several pieces of art drawing on relatively famous works of art. I am referring specifically to the pipe-playing skeleton on p. 60 and the dancing skeleton and girl on p. 63. I figures someone else would somment on this, but I did enjoyseeing a modern perspective. I also found the face of Dr. Davaulus very well-done; the eyes are compelling.
There are some things I didn't like too much. The "smoothing" quality of hte artwork does not appeal to me; I suppose I like sharper angles and contrast. While a lot of people seem to like Andaisin, I thought she seemed too much like th elittle Goth girls from LARP in the 90s - and the oversized scythe continues the annoying trend of gigantic weapons. I suppose that puts me in the "realism" school, versus high fantasy.
Overall, I do give a favorable review to the art. There are some pieces that appeal very strongly to me, and others that I don;t like to see, but the former outweigh the latter. I look forward to seeing a continuing variance of styles.

Liori was a bit jarring (the bladed chainmail catsuit might have been more palatable if her pose was less pole-dancer, and the style was less cartoony). Anime is nice in small doses, and she's a a great NPC, but it's the weakest piece.
The pic of Ileosa chocking endrin was really, really cool, though. and Bahor's face in genuinely scary, Pilts is eminently disgusting.

Heh. I think I just got my contrarian nature slapped in my face. Reading the above (and seeing the dreaded An*me complaint dragged out again), I popped open my PDF of EfOK so that I could come back here and defend the picture of Laori...
...and, boy, I just cannot. Anime, shmanime -- what has happened to that poor girl's SPINE?

Okay, maybe anime was an uncalled for jibe. the pose and appearance just brought to mind lots and lots of female anime character designs, so it popped into my head very quickly. Mostly the "Hot schoolgirl" types.
Yeah, it was the weird pose that killed it for me. Bladed chainmail catsuit-okay, I can deal with it. spinal contortions while weilding a chain-weapon? nope, it's in the red.
I like to do ameture sketches to NPCs that dont get artwork, but show up in the campaign. I did Shayliss, Nisk Tander, Ameiko, and Jargie before. I'll give this one a try. It wont be better, per say (I'm not an amazing artist), but It wont make players scoff when I show it to them.

please post links when you do them -makes it easier to run a Play by post when I can put links in the posts!

Yes Bahor is a fabulous piece as is his sister and the darksphinx. We need more of that style and less of Laori... I mean chainmail isn't a lycra skinsuit... it drapes and hangs loosely. I can see if the followers of Zon-kuthon want to inflict pain on themselves those hooks could be turned inward, but as an offensive designed armor it's just not functional.

I don't have the time and eloquence to express my feelings properly, but in general I don't like the art of PF#9 very much. There are exceptions though. Issue #6 raced the bar in artwork. For me the best yet. Perhaps its because it was the showdown of the first AP, but it featured really high quality.
Just my two cents and really no offence meant.
