Anyone notice that the sample elf in the swim trunk pose looks kind of Night Elfy and the sample rouge kind of like a Blood elf?

Or maybe I'm just playing way too much WOW.

Bolded text indicates a spelling fix by me.

It's not coincidence; physical appearance, in particular of elves and gnomes, has been drawn from WoW to at least a limited extent.

I thought it was amusing that the gnome female was the only one to get a skirt-like bottom. My fiance suggested that perhaps the gnome wasn't entirely female...

I hate it when polymorph goes awry.

Yeah, as I said here, I REALLY don't like the artwork about the races (especially the elf!).

See, thats the real reason they are getting rid of it, now the worst you have to worry about is still having a tail or something when you're done... :P

There is a similarity, though I really don't like the buff look of the male elf, he should look more flexible and limber.

Eh. Makes me think of Legolas or Galadriel (from the novel, not the movie). I don't like the bunny ears. I really don't like the bunny ears.

Yeah, the bunny ears a kind of ridiculous, they remind me of the Jax and Daxter games and don't really fit D&D. Though the ears for the rogue aren't too bad.

On a side note, does anyone have/want to make up an Illustration index? Maybe it's just me, but I would like that for Pathfinder, I really like their art (except the Races art could be improved).

Little bunny fru-fru hopping through the forest, picking up the field mice and SHOOTING THEM FROM THEIR BOW WITH THEIR MAD ARCANE ARCHER SKILLZ! R0X0RZZ!!!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I'm really despising all of the negative comments about the elf's ears. Who are you, or you, or even me to decide what's appropriate for D&D and what's not? That's arrogance in its purest form. And I hate people who think they can dictate to me what's good for my game.

I for one like the picture on page 4. It's a lot better than I've seen in a lot of recent WotC works. And the elven rogue iconic? That's concept artist Wayne Reynolds giving her those ears. If he wants to give her those ears, that's his business, not yours. If Mona doesn't like the look, he'll let Reynolds know. That's his job, not yours.

Back on track to the original thread, yes, I do notice those semblances myself. It doesn't detract from the quality of the artwork at all.

Calm down bunny. For myself I like the rogue (or the other class arts) but compare the "race"-elf with the "rogue"-elf. The ears are much bigger.

Actually, I really liked the draft-drawings in the 3rd Ed. Player's Guide.
Where you could see the difference between the heads of the races.
That was good stuff. (Especially the 3 heads of human, half-elf, elf side by side)
