I can't find where I found this, but is it true that Paizo will be giving out free copies of the Beta softcover at Gen Con? If so, will it be at the Pathfinder Society? Thanks!
I think they're giving out free PDFs of the Beta for a long time and will be SELLING printed copies of the beta rules at GenCon.

Huh. I know they'll be giving the free PDF, but I could have sworn they were going to be giving free ones at Gen Con, and selling them online, since Gen Con will be the release of the Beta...
Oh well, guess not.

No free print copies. I believe that the plan is to have the PDF version of the Beta rules free to download, but if you want the softcover printed rules, you'll have to buy them (basically to cover our printing costs, which for a book this size are not insignificant).
That, and you're also buying a small piece of gaming history. This is kinda unprecedented...

Slightly off topic, but is there any chance of pathfinder beta events at Gen Con Indy this summer? I know of other so called 'beta' products that have had events run for it that were actually pretty great.

There will be a seminar in ICC 101-102 called "Sticking with 3.5: the Pathfinder RPG and the Future of Paizo" on Friday from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. wherein folks can come chat with Jason Bulmahn and other Paizo staff about PRPG.
All of our Pathfinder Society events and the Friday night mega-event, Ascension of the Drow, will be using the 3.5 rules. Since our focus for events this year is entirely on launching PFS and running AotD (and there are a lot of PFS events planned) we don't have capacity to run separate events for PRPG beyond the above panel.
