Alternative Combat Maps

Alpha Playtest Feedback General Discussion

Anyone have any thoughts about changing the general map scheme to better facilitate movement in the game? Green Ronin's Advanced Gamemaster's Guide offers two alternatives to the standard grid: A hex map and a map of staggered squares. Either one eliminates having to count every other square as 10ft. Perhaps one of these would be something to add to the Pathfinder RPG.

Just a thought...

I agree. The grid seems to cumbersome. In fact, truth be told, I have used a hex battle mat for almost twenty years. Hexes just seem to flow better than squares when it comes to movement. The only ease a grid map allows is the mapping itself. However, since we all play in the digital age, unassisted mapping seems a bygone art. Many people have numerous cartagrapher programs to assist them in mapping on hexes if needed. Therefore, I would like to see at least a sidebar for those who want to play Pathfinder with hexes instead of squares.

No hex maps for this game. Bleh. It's cool in Battletech, but... We have a kind of local clone of D&D played only in our country and the system uses hex maps. It's a tragedy.
