Will there be any PFS at GenconUK?
Hi,
I'm the guy in charge of organising all the assorted Living Games for Gen Con UK. As I understand it PFS is launching at Gen Con Indy, roughly two weeks before Gen Con UK.
I have no problems with offering space for PFS games on the schedule provided I can get some idea of the level of interest and if I have people come forward willing to run it - I'd far rather have gm's who are already familiar with the system and setting.
If people would be interested in playing PFS could you let me know here.
If anyone would be interested in gm'ing PFS could you send me an email to rpga <at> genconuk <dot> com.
In the interest of full disclosure yes I am part of the RPGA - namely currently the POC for Onnwal for Living Greyhawk and the POC for Luruar (UK / Ireland / South Africa) for Living Forgotten Realms however I am responsible for coordinating all Living games at Gen Con UK whether they are from the RPGA or not.

You might find that www.consupport.com is unblocked. Worth a try, and it's the site where you can sign up for GenCon UK, buy accommodation on campus, find out about off-site accommodation and what-not.
Discussion on the forums is very quiet; can I recommend the site www.ukroleplayers.com which has a more active discussion of things GenCon (and not all complimentary, to be honest!)

Waited until I got home..Checked out the web page...
Anyone who has gone to this willing to talk to me offline about it?
I've been to GenCon UK the past few years and I'm interested in running Pathfinder at this years. If you want to ask me any questions then feel free to drop me a line.

Yeah I have one... Why is it so damn expensive!!!!!.;-).... £40 pounds for a 4 day pass is a lot for American... Almost $80 for a 4 day pass....which is $15 more then the US based Gencon..
Sucks living in Europe and getting paid in US Currency... The Exchange kills me ;-)

However you also need to pay for every game you play at Gen Con Indy. The £40 should also cover the majority of your games (some things like magic sealed deck event shave additional costs but the majority of games are free after you have paid for your pass).

That is good to know...as soon as I figure out how to register some Pathfinder games...and how to buy 2 tickets..will go ahead and do so..

So you have to pay to get in and pay to play at a game? How much does it cost to play in a game...and what are the character creation methods used? Do you create the character there or before you show? Do you find the DM/GM you are going to use before you show up to play?
I am TOTALLY going to this Gen Con UK 2008! And would love to play in a Pathfinder setting. I only get the chance to run it and my local, all new players in my group and it's getting smaller...gotta love the military life.

Now I realise which weekend Gen Con UK is on, I'm almost hoping there aren't any PFS games on, that week is already going to be hideously expensive :S. If there's no Paizo/PF presence I doubt I'll make it, but if there is, I doubt my willpower will hold out and my bank account will just have to take a bit of a thrashing in August :), hopefully they'll be on a specific day so I won't have to shell out for multiple nights accomodation...

We are currently exploring the possibility of attending Gen Con UK.
Is this another teaser?
Edit:
Ah. It is the latest twist in the battle for supremacy between Pett and Logue. :)
Logue will lead an attempted invasion of the UK, in an effort to seek out his rival's lair, where they will duel with long-swords in the middle of the night, by the illumination of hundeds of flickering candles.... :D

('Taking one' on my Sense Motive check.)
Maybe Paizo have emptied the piggy-bank to pay for Mr. Logue's salary and the forthcoming beta printings- and therefore Josh's post is fishing for accomodation with customers/fans. :D
I am afraid that I am located in Birimingham, which is unlikely to be useful unless Paizo are intending to fly in via Birmingham International airport and spend several days recuperating from jetlag before travelling down to GenCon UK by train. You have my email address (obviously) on your files, Josh, if this thought does appeal to the Paizo staff for any reason. :!:

I swear I posted this already...
If you guys went to Gen Con UK.. it would go from my Maybe list..to my Definitely going list!!!!

And me, in fact I definitely won't be going unless Paizo are there, it starts the day after I get back from another short-but-expensive trip, so it would be stretching my finances for the month quite a bit and the timings would be hella awkward, but for the authentic Paizo/PFS experience it'd totally be worth it :D.

Well I can say I have had a couple of people volunteer to GM PFS modules at Gen Con UK so there will be PFS available to play for those who only have that as a requirement.
In answer to the other question I saw up-thread you pay to enter Gen Con UK. You do not pay extra to play in any of the table-top RPG events (including PFS). You do (unsurprisingly) need to pay extra to play in sealed-deck type card or minature tournaments etc.
Any other questions feel free to ask.

PS is it possible to set things up so I get an email whenever there is a post to this thread?

Sweet! Now do I need to sign up for a game before hand or just wing it when I get there?
It will be so nice to be a player and not the DM!!!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! *bounces*
You bastards! I have to run my Crimson Throne game on Sunday (they've just hit the Dead Warrens and they're really not a very combat capable party at low levels bar the Falchion-wielding fighter, especially against uncrittable things, so it's a bit of a trial), and spend the rest of the weekend packing in preparation for moving house next week. Now I'm going to be far too distracted in anticipation of announcements to get anything done...
*bounce*

Though I've pretty much decided to go to Gen Con UK anyway, I'd really like to get some PFS games played before I dedicate myself to infecting as much of my local gaming community as possible through GMing everything I can get my greedy little hands on. Lack of money and time be damned :). So y'know, exciting announcements are just the icing on the cake!

We'll have some exciting news to announce on Monday about Gen Con UK.
<Takes 20 on Search Check, and still finds no reference to which Monday the announcement will be made upon in Mr. Frost's statement (or at least not at time of posting before Mr. Frost may start editing).>

Just go to the GenconUK website and it's pretty obvious for at least a part!
Oh, and welcome to the UK guys!

I'm seeing mention that Paizo is going to have an exhibitor's stand, but no specifics yet about anyone who may be attending from Paizo or any Paizo-related events which may be occuring.
Mr. Frost is known for his cruel teasing techniques. As Director of Marketing, I suspect that it may be required by his job description! :DHowever I agree with the sentiment that any Paizo dignatries (even Mr. Frost, despite his many tantalising posts) will be welcome in the UK (and would like to suggest, for the convenience of the long running Pett-Logue saga, that they permanently relocate here if they need bigger offices and Seattle is getting too expensive :D).

Sometimes I think that Mr. Forst forgets that in the UK we're several hours ahead of Paizo, and that it is the early hours of the next day here when they end up making an 'end of the working day' announcement from Seattle. :D
Of course, I hope to be proved wrong on this count.... <blatant 'pleeeeease get on with spilling the beans, I want to know how likely is is that I may need to start saving for a train fare to Reading' nudge> :)

Actually it said in the list of people attending, but hey, good news whatever!

And I'm well aware of the time difference. :-)
Auurghhh (but in a good sort of way)! Now I have to start worrying about train fares and timetables... umbrellas in case of rain... distance/time taken to walk from station to campus, etc.
Very good to see you coming across the Atlantic though, for those of us unable to travel to PaizoCon.

Which day is Pett's epic face-to-face showdown with you being booked for?
Will you joust or duel with swords until one man falls? :D

Hah I fear Nick will be sorely disappointed in his efforts to twist, break, bend and otherwise distress his public (though we look forward to him trying) theres reason we've got a number of reputaions (stiff upperlip, seige mentality and exporting violence) after all.
Hows about a late night DM off most intense RP experiance wins.
