Again, this is not a snipe, but I figured I'd throw out a little information. Pathfinder isn't the first RPG in history to use an open playtest. It may very well be the first from a major publisher, but the indie RPG scene has been doing open playtests for the better part of a decade at this point, if not longer. One of the primary functions of sites like 1k Monkeys, 1k Typewriters, The Forge, and Story-Games for Everybody is the act of playtesting. Games like Sorcerer, Gumshoe, Houses of the Blooded, Lacuna, (I'm pretty sure) The Shadow of Yesterday are proof-positive that the open playtest option works.
Again, I'm not jumping down throats here, and I absolutely applaud what Paizo is doing here.
