My posting may be nonexistent for the next day or two as we had to admit my son to the hospital (fever, vomiting, dehydration ... all the nasty stuff). Not sure when exactly I'll have time.
How's your little one doing Pat?
Man that's horrible! I hope all goes well Bryan.
Ally is doing much better, and we have her home. Thanks for all the positive wishes. I hope your son recovers quickly.
Don't worry about the game, we'll likely be posting non-combat stufffs for a while

Moving the rules discussion over here.
If the mounted guys were charging during the first round, they should really be right in front of the party instead of in the middle of the road. A charge as an action (from my understanding of the RAW) is a full round action characterized by moving up to twice the character's speed followed by an attack, carrying the attack bonus and AC penalty with it. You're only actually charging (using the special combat action as described and getting the bonus from the lance) if you attack something at the end of that movement. Otherwise all you did was move or double move. Since the mounted riders moved into the middle of the road, stopped, and Karrin moved in front of them they effectively can't charge any more, except the guy at the top that has a clear avenue.
We can't interrupt a charge unless we've readied a spear attack or similar action in case of a charge- at which point, we lose our turn for that round, taking it during the charging character's turn and moving our future initiative along with it. Since the dark elves won initiative, for instance, and if they were charging, they should have hit us already- rendering Isaac's action pointless.
I understand why you wouldn't want to move them all the way initially- the spellcaster's ice storm. To get them clear of the AoE that would cause damage what you could have done is had the riders delay their better initiative score until after she went- resolving the ice storm- and THEN charged in at double the wolves' movement rate (let's say it was 50 feet, for a total of 100 feet and then an attack).
I hope what I'm saying was clear; no criticism intended, just my understanding of the rules. I don't think the mounted elves would get charge damage bonus against Karrin since they halted their movement in the first round.

Something you might have failed to consider James is that while the damage is only dealt once ice storm isn't an instantaneous spell, it's going to be up for a couple of rounds, so what these mounted guys might be doing is waiting for someone to stagger out of the radius so they can pick us off.
However Karrin is safe from charges if she's right on top of them :) You can't really continue a charge. each round certain conditions must be met before they can charge. They need at least 10ft of movement, in a straight line, and nothing can be in their way. If Karrin is sitting on top of them the front two can't charge, and the one on the side, though 10ft away, would need to move through their teammate's square to trigger the charge. Which you can't do and still trigger the charge. They could have taken up to a double move last round and still attacked at the end of it. If they did charge last round they had a -2 to their AC.
A dire wolf normally has an AC of 14, if they charge that gets reduced to 12, Karrin missed on a 19, so these things have +8 armour on, which is the equivalent of full plate. I mention this because this means they're likely wearing at least medium armour, which means they'll have a speed reduction.
As for if they can use their lances: there's no rule that says they can't, however historically when a knight got into melee they'd usually drop their lance in favor of a sword, or better yet a mace for mashing skulls.
One last thing: dire wolves are large creatures so they actually take up 4 squares, which kind of bothers me as I like how you have them set up Pat :), that makes more sense to me, but the wolves are 4 squares big and the rider is considered to be in all of those squares so with a reach weapon they can attack from any square the wolf is in and extend 2 squares out. They likely won't need to move to attack Karrin, but the wolves themselves don't have reach and will need to step into Karrin's range if they want to bite her . . . dragging along the rider.

Ok, all good points. Like I have said before, this was a complex battle, and I was sure I was going to frack this up a bit. And I have, for certain *sigh*. I didn't realize the dire wolves took up four squares, and for that I apologize. I also didn't take into consideration the ice storms effects on a charge. What I was trying to do is get Rhiannon a bit of limelight, since she hasn't really had a chance to exercise her Cavalier powers yet. Let's do a bit of Retcon, and well say the riders halted and drew swords to attack stragglers as James suggested. I am out right now and typing this on my iBorg while waiting for my daughter to finish shoe shopping, so when I have a chance I will try and untangle this whole mess
Btw, does a horse take up four squares? I don't have the books on me and I am just curious.

Yep, good rule of thumb is that mounts are always one size larger then whatever is riding them. Medium creatures ride on large mounts and small sized creatures ride on medium sized mounts.

And a rider is vulnerable from any of those four squares, right? Good to know.

Heheh, Wow. You guys lvl'd up already?!? I better get crackin!
(Sorry, delayed reaction, been busy all weekend) :D
I think we got lucky on that one, personally. Justin has been tossing around max'd out fireballs for so long, I've forgotten what it was like to be on the OTHER end of a mid-lvl spell! ;P
If they hadn't delayed their charge, or if Karrin hadn't been so efficient in her delaying of them, those wolf-riders could have seriously messed us over.
Which is exactly how it should be! Challenging, requiring wise use of available resources, (and yes, I'll take lucky too!) ;)
Just saying I'm enjoying the game in general. I try not to get too hung up on the tiny rules details, (mainly because I haven't been able to memorize them all since 1st ed!) ;P
And allow me to throw another thank you to you all for the continued entertainment! I luv our PC interactions. I'm trying to make Justin the one with all the witty one-liners, but lately I've just been sitting back and LOL'ing at Merle and Karrin. And then Isaac has to go and make me crack up! (I imagine his last line to be straight-face/deadpan, al-la John Wayne or Clint Eastwood.) This a great group, from The MOnkey Mastermind to Seph & Nari's little broken crystal. I'm glad I jumped in when I had the chance! :)
Now,... to lvl up,... (WHERE is that Feat that makes even fire proof monsters take damage from my fire spells?!?) :D

It's going to be a while before I have a chance to level up. I'm running around like mad right now getting stuff ready because we're leaving on vacation tomorrow morning. Taking the kidlet to disney world for his birthday. :)
Anyways, I'll probably be able to post albeit infrequently from my phone, but I might get a bit too busy with all the fun. So if I'm holding stuff up please just DMPC Nari.

Bryan- I'd like to give Ekuur a 'memento' of his time with the Seed, but I don't wish to give him a superpower or anything. Any ideas? I thought perhaps access to the Plant domain of spells? I don't know if that is actually worthwhile. Maybe a speak with plants 1/day ability? Any thoughts?

Actually I like that idea (Plant domain), although even more appropriate might be the Growth subdomain from APG. With those, there's several spells I think would be useful ...

Growth it is. Consider it done.

Stheno/Flash:I have been thinking that perhaps you could be an agent of Lady Meralindiel. Since access to the greater multiverse is limited in this world, maybe she will have you travel to Sigil to try and find armaments and people to help the elvish alliance's cause (they are being taken over piecemeal by Lolth's minions). If that meets with your approval of course.
That sounds cool Pat.
What Alignment do you think works. Alignment is the one thing I haven't settled on yet. I was considering straight up Neutral, but if you think something else works better then I'm happy to accommodate.
I have her equipment bought and Stats half written up, so just let me know when you want to introduce her and I'll be good to go.
I hope you don't mind me using the Ultimate Combat Playtest Ninja as her actual Class (other than Medusa) I would have taken a few levels less of Medusa, but I really wanted the Snake Hair and it doesn't kick in until Level 5. Obviously she's not an actaul "Ninja", I'm just using that Class to simulate her training is a little more non-conventional than Rogue.
One more thing: If you could at some point work a Magic Item into the game I would be most aprreciative (I simply didn't have enough Gold to buy it, I was hard pressed as it is). It's from the 3.5 Dragon Magic book and I've always wanted to have a Character use it, but never had the chance before our group swapped to Pathfinder Rules (and they only allow PFRPG Core now :/ ). I'll e-mail you the details on it. As always, it's OK to say no. :)
I think that's about it for now. :)

Welcome back, Flash!
Thanks Bryan. :)
You're lucky. She won't be getting a Petrifying Gaze, so you're all safe (although if you get on her bad side she might try and Stun you). ;)
"FLASH! -AH-HAAAAAH! Savior of the group!"
Welcome back flash! :D
Oh, Wow. And I thought I had some cool concepts before!
I officially bow to your creativity! ;)
