The dice just don't seem to like Liz
Oh it's not just Liz. It's every single frickin' one of my Characters!!! I have rolled maybe half a dozen rolls above 10 out of the past probably getting close to two dozen now and only half of those half dozen have been above 15.
I am not having a good time with IC at the moment... :(

Ok, guys... the adventure as written has 2 more major encounters, but it's taken so long, I'm thinking of skipping the next one... any objections? I'll still pull it into the story, but the guard will do it as you do the last major encounter (which I have no idea how to do in PBP yet)
any thoughts?
So do you mean straight away just do a time skip to the next encounter now, or once we wrap this current section with the King of Spiders up, just jump to it?

You mean 2 more knivsies encounters? You could always storyboard it I suppose. I don't have any objections with moving forward.

I don't think that it's dragging: PbP is just a slow format. But if anyone has a suggestion as to how to speed it up, I'm open to trying.
As for skipping, I can't say for sure without knowing more about the encounter, which would spoil it a bit. If it's "go and collar the Chelaxian Ambassador," I think that it probably would be a good climax, though I can see an argument for the Field Marshal putting more senior people on such an important task.
Bottom line: If you think that the extra encounter would be fun to play out, keep it in. If you think that it would be boring or nonsensical, present it in a cutscene.

I don't either, but want to hear Dread weigh in. This is a chance to show off Keth's coolness, and I'm willing for Arius and Anju to win some more money while Keth slaps around more thugs.
As an aside: This might be a good place to get some information about shivers for Anju.

hehe. Keth thinks Liz is a harlot ;). Not that being a Harlot is bad....hehehe
and for the record, Im cool with however you want to do it Cap. If you think for our purposes things would be hard to 'role play' on the boards...then advance things...as Eric & Anju said just do it as a cutscene/story board.
Im having fun so theres no reason to make everyone wait as I beat thugs senseless if youd rather us get on to more serious things :)

Kroft has 2 more tasks - one is important to the story, and will be kept in no matter what, the other only serves to meet a leader of a local Shoanti tribe which comes into play in book 5 (and is a sewer slog through Korvosa's sewer to kill Derro).

Personally I am not worried. Yes this is taking a while, but it is PbP which in and of itself is a relatively slow style of play.
If everyone decides to skip forward then that's fine.If the consensus is to play it out then that's all good too.
As long as I get me some Pseudo Dragon Companionation I'm all good.

Fight!

I don't worry too much either about this taking awhile. I think D&D just takes longer in PbP than other games because of all the fighting involved. I play Vampire in PbP and it goes smoothly until there is a fight and then it takes a week to get through that one part haha.
Btw, I think I will try to get something out of these guys about shivers, maybe Devargo? He already has one girl flirting with him , why not 2 ;)

I'd put my money on Liz for three reasons:
1) Arius has already demonstrated that he's influenced by attractive women, even against his better judgment (Wis 10, Int 16);
2) Arius thinks that Liz needs the influence of a NG creature more than he does;
and most importantly,
3) flash_cxxi wants a pseudodragon companion more than me, so it would more effectively maximize party fun to let him have it.
Pseudodragons rock, though. Make it your familiar if you can swing it.

An option: Why don't you roll for a couple of rounds at a time, then give conditional orders for the second round? That might speed play a little while still giving Keth a chance to show off. I think that Ox (the prior fighter) did something like this in his knivesies match at the start of the campaign last year.
But I'm also okay role-playing on the sidelines while Keth pummels thugs round-by-round.

He's in trouble then if he thinks he can keep up with Liz! ;)

That's why I've always preferred Faerie Dragons. The Chaotic side appeals more to my sensibilities...

heh, heh, I just thought it would be cool, but I wasn't really suggesting that there should be arguments about who she keep the cuddly little fella. :)
I wish I could make it my Familiar, but unfortunately she already has an Arcane Bond with her Kukri, Caress. She'd probably try and gut me with it if I attempted to take it off her in favour of the Dragon...! 8O

lol. Elizabeth is such a bad influence on you guys
BTW - diplomacy is only usable to influence how friendly someone is once per 24 hours time period (I did confirm it in the Beta Doc), so you can distract him plenty, but without either the bribe or wins, more information from it is unlikely. Devargo is too careful to do anything like straight out taking the coin pouch without an offer of it, he doesn't want to give the guard a viable reason to search the ship(s).

Boooooo! Stuffy old Devargo.
Thanks for the info on Diplomacy. I did not know that...

Yeah, I had to confirm it when you rolled high enough that it would influence more than the first roll.. So you distracted him very well, but he's still not friendly....
That's why I'm glad the beta has a paragraph on every skill telling you if/when it is reusable.

yeah, in the process of buying a car, so figuring out financing has eaten up most of my free time. I'll have a post up later today
Good luck!
My wife has been organizing a re-fi for our mortgage, and it's taken since January to get everything signed off. Everybody is skittish about the possibility of borrowers defaulting (understandably, but I think unreasonably so in our case).

same here, and they are requiring so many extra forms its not funny.
right now the bank and dealership are fighting over which order things are going to happen in: the bank wants a form before they'll close the loan, and the dealership won't send the form until the transfer of ownership, at which point I need to already have the $

I sell cars for a living and did finance for a dealership for about 8 years. Its probably a Buyers Order (most states) In some though its just the contract.
Your bank doesnt want to take the risk of the dealership 'securing the loan' and stealing their deal.
The Dealership doesnt want you 'shopping the deal' to another car dealership.
Thats whats going on behind the scenes.
Ask for an option contract.
Most states allow it.
Theres a contract that puts the best interest the dealership can give you on, and gives you X amount of days (specified on the contract)to secure your own loan.
The risk is minimal, since your bank/credit union wont want to take the risk and lose the loan, so they will process things quickly.
Main thing you need to do is make sure the date is on the contract, and is within a time frame that you will have the time to get down to the bank/credit union to sign docs.
