Psion
Alignment: Any
Hit Dice: d6

Class Skills
The psion’s class skills are Craft (Int), Knowledge (all) (Int), Profession (Wis), Psicraft (Int). Psions gain a number of additional class skills based upon the discipline chosen at 1st level.
1st Level Skill Choices: 2 + Int

Class Features
All the normal class features of the psion, plus the following.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Psions are proficient with the club, dagger, heavy crossbow, light crossbow, quarterstaff and shortspear. They are not proficient with any type of armor or shield. Armor does not interfere with the manifestation of psionic powers.

Power Points/Day: A psion’s ability to manifest powers is limited by the power points he has available. His base daily allotment of power points is given on Table: The Psion. In addition, he receives bonus power points per day if he has a high Intelligence score (see Table: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Power Points). His race may also provide bonus power points per day, as may certain feats and items.
Powers Known: A psion begins play knowing three psion powers of your choice. Each time he achieves a new level, he unlocks the knowledge of new powers.
Choose the powers known from the psion power list, or from the list of powers of your chosen discipline. You cannot choose powers from restricted discipline lists other than your own discipline list. You can choose powers from disciplines other than your own if they are not on a restricted discipline list. A psion can manifest any power that has a power point cost equal to or lower than his manifester level.
The number of times a psion can manifest powers in a day is limited only by his daily power points.
A psion simply knows his powers; they are ingrained in his mind. He does not need to prepare them (in the way that some spellcasters prepare their spells), though he must get a good night’s sleep each day to regain all his spent power points.
The Difficulty Class for saving throes against psion powers is 10 + the power’s level + the psion’s Intelligence modifier. Maximum Power Level Known: A psion begins play with the ability to learn 1st-level powers. As he attains higher levels, a psion may gain the ability to master more complex powers.
To learn or manifest a power, a psion must have an Intelligence score of at least 10 + the power’s level.
Discipline Powers: At 1st level, a psion chooses on discipline of psionics to focus on. Each discipline adds a number of class skills to the character as well as a number of discipline powers.
Bonus Feats: A psion gains a bonus feat at 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th level. This feat must be psionic, metapsionic or psionic item creation in nature.

Psionic Focus (Su): At 1st level, psions learn to focus their psionic potential into a crystalline creature or object. This bond can take one of three forms: a psycrystal (see Psicrystal Affinity), a psicrysmal (see Psicrystals Expanded by Dreamscarred Press) or a psicrystal weapon (see Psicrystals Expanded by Dreamscarred Press).

Sample Disciplines:

Seer (Clairsentience)
Psions of the clairsentience discipline always consider Diplomacy (Cha) and Perception (Wis) as class skills. Psions of this discipline may also learn powers from the dedicated Clairsentience list.

Manifester Level Ability
1st Seer’s Guidance (Su): You can touch a creature as a standard action, giving it an enhancement bonus to a single attack roll, skill check, ability check, or saving throw equal to your manifester level. This bonus lasts for 3 rounds or until used. A creature can only benefit from this ability 1/day.

2nd Precognition (Ps): You can manifest precognition 1/day per 2 manifester levels you have.

4th Object Reading (Ps): You can manifest object reading 1/day.

6th Fate Link (Ps): You can manifest fate link 1/day.

8th Remote Viewing Adept (Ps): You are always aware when you are being observed via psionics, as if you have a permanent detect remote viewing. In addition, whenever you use remote viewing on a subject, treat the subject as one step more familiar to you. Very familiar subjects get a -10 penalty on their Will save to avoid your remote viewing.

10th Second Chance (Ps): You can manifest second chance 1/day.
(and so on).

Hmmm. I like this. I particularly like the Discipline Powers, making them similar to Wizards/Clerics in that regard. Keep going! Keep the psi-love flowing!

The Exchange

You know I think that is all that really needs to be done to move the psion to the 3.P style.

Psions gain discipline powers at 1,2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20 in a similar way to the clerics and wizards.
Hit Dice moves to d6, at they have the Poor BAB progression.
Skills are adjusted - Psicraft is used in place of concentration.

I added a "Psionic Focus" that let the all psions have a psicrystal, psicrysmal (crystalline familiar) or psicrystal weapon.

Psions have no 0th level powers so Cantrips or Orision have no analogue.

I would keep the Dedicated Discipline lists as well from the EPH so that those powers that make up the disicpline bonuses can also be selected an powered by power points.

Psychic Warrior (3.P)
(hate making charts, so here is the summary)

BAB – Average (3/4)
HP – d8
Good Save - Fort

The psychic warrior’s class skills are Autohypnosis (Wis), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Perception (Wis), Profession (Wis), Psicraft (Int), Ride (Dex), Swim (Str)
Skills at 1st Level: 2 + Int

Power Points/Day; Powers Known; Maximum Level Power Known all unchanged.
Bonus Feats at 1,2,5,8,11,14,17,20: Must be fighter, combat or psionic feats.
Extra Training at 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18: A psionic warrior gains Armor Training or Weapon Training (player’s choice) as per the rules for the Fighter class.

*Autohypnosis is used to attain psionic focus. Since psionic focus is often expanded in psionic combat feats it makes more sense for it to be the class skill for a psychic warrior over a psion.

Nice work, the only problem I have is that you made the psion lose 15 powers known at 20th level.

Pure psion awesome sauce!!!

I'll be running a Telepath, and this looks like a great model for the other disciplines as well.

To add on that That means the psions will have less powers and be hurt since once you learn a power cannot change them AT ALL unless you have psionic reformation or psychic Chirurgery. Then those have hefty EXP costs to use.

I love shapers because if you play your cards right you will always ahve a toll for what you need to do. (I gestalt Rogue/Psion alot using the shaper discipline.)

Favorite trick I do is fabricate the door into a tower shield.

Is it too much of a power issue to just merge the class features gained from the Metamind PrC with the Psion base class, and stagger/re-assign the level at which those class abilities are gained to span 20 levels, rather then 10 (so no change to the numbers, just the levels/rate at which the abilities are gained)? Add in some discipline specific goodness, and I think it would be good to go.

Something like:

1st: Bonus feat, Discipline, Free discipline manifesting 1st, 1/day
2nd: Cognizance psicrystal 3 points
3rd:
4th: Free discipline manifesting 1st, 2/day
5th: Bonus feat
6th: Cognizance psicrystal 5 points
7th: Free discipline manifesting 2nd, 1/day,
8th:
9th:
10th: Bonus feat, Free discipline manifesting 2nd, 2/day, Cognizance psicrystal 7 points
11th:
12th:
13th: Free discipline manifesting 3rd, 1/day
14th: Cognizance psicrystal 9 points
15th: Bonus feat,
16th: Free discipline manifesting 4th, 1/day
17th:
18th: Cognizance psicrystal 11 points
19th: Free discipline manifesting 5th, 1/day
20th: Bonus feat, Font of Power

Free Manifesting (Ps): At 1st level, a psion can manifest any 1st-level power he knows from his chosen psionic discipline for free (without spending power points) one time per day.At higher levels, a psion gains the ability to freely manifest additional powers, as well as higher-level powers: 2nd-level powers per day, starting at 7th level; one 3rd-level power per day at 12th level; one 4th-level power per day at 16th level; and one 5th-level power per day at 19th level.

This benefit applies only to the power point cost of an unaugmented power. Points spent to augment a power and an experience point cost (if any) must be paid as normal.

Cognizance Psicrystal (Ex): At 2nd level, a psion masters the trick of storing excess power points in a psicrystal. The psicrystal is now treated as a cognizance crystal capable of storing 3 power points, in addition to its psicrystal abilities. At every forth level, a psion becomes able to store an additional 2 power points in his psicrystal, to a maximum of 11 points at 18th level.

Font of Power (Ps): A 20th-level psion can act as a living cognizance crystal, producing seemingly endless power points once per day, for up to 1 minute. His eyes shine like tiny stars, and faint illumination seems to beam out of his mouth and the end of each of his fingers. While so empowered, he can manifest any of his powers without drawing from his power point reserve. He finds the power points he needs welling up within his own body.

If a psion using this ability enters a metaconcert, his power point reserve is accessed normally for the purpose of his contributing to the pool.

Silver Crusade

I didn't realize there was already a thread, so I had tried my own version of the psion. They came out pretty similar, so it seems great minds think alike.

The one thing I'd like to add though, is that I really think talents should come back for Pathfinder so that Psions can have all day abilities just like wizards and clerics get. It would be pretty easy to look back at 3.0 or put the 1st-level 3.5 powers that don't really deserve to be there (my light, catfall, I'm looking at you) back to 0th.

Whoops. I didn't notice that the Powers known has an irregular pattern.

My intention is that Powers Known, Power Points and Maximum Power Level remain unchanged from the 3.5 Psion.

My take on this is: the mechanic already exists in the form of psionic focus. Just add in some an additional feat/class feature gained at first level along the following lines:

Discipline Focus: Choose one first level power from your chosen Discipline. You may manifest this power for free when you expend your psionic focus. You may augment this power as normal, but your manifestor level for this power, when manifested in this fashion, is one-half of your character level.

I like that. As a replacement for the at-will 0th level powers I would not allow this to be augmentable, but allow you to select a number of discipline powers at 1st level.

I like this makes being your discipline and picking your powers fun, but I can see potential abuse at the 7~9th level powers for some. That is fixable with the good old 'DM has last say' rule.
