No magic for Gnomes?

Races & Classes

I like most of the stuff that I see from PRPG Alpha. However, I dislike the magical nature of Gnomes. Admittedly, I have never liked it. But, I do like the idea of Gnomes being innately technical and scientific, like Tinker Gnomes in Dragonlance. Gnomes and magic (illusions) just seems too cliché.

Which do you like, tinker or magic?

I don't see why they can't have both.

Personally, I think the tinker gnome is the cliche. It was a great idea in its time, but it has been wrung out for comedy effect.

I enjoy Paizo's take, and I'm excited to read more gnomish lore.

Given that gnomes were originally seen as earth spirits, I like the fey ties. That said, I would like to see the magic replaces with a more static representation of the tie (so that you could low Charisma gnomes without penalty).

I much prefer magic. I'm your opposite here. I find the tinker gnomes to be the cliche.
