Barbarians & Acrobatics?

Races & Classes

Alright, why do barbarians get Acrobatics as a class skill? Sure, they had Jump in 3.5, but not Balance or Tumble. Rangers also had Jump, but are denied Acrobatics. Old rules aside, Arobatics doesn't even fit into the "flavor" of the barbarian class (at least IMO)--though I do see how it may fit with the ranger class (balancing on tree branches, rope brideges, etc).

In short, this is what I'd suggest: Either
A) remove Acrobatics as a class skill for the barbarian; or
B) kepp it, but give the ranger Acrobatics, too.

I prefer the second option; in fact I don’t see why the fighter couldn’t have acrobatics as well.

Then why not paladin, too? I think if someone wants their barbarian or fighter character to have Acrobatics as a class skill, they should make a human or 1/2 elf character & use it as their bonus skill or take a level of rogue, bard, or monk. Alternatively, they could consult with their DM to "trade out," say, Heavy or Medium Armor proficiency or Shield proficiency to add a class skill.

Of course, that's a house rule, but it could be incorporated into the RAW, something like:
"At 1st level, a character may opt to trade out an armor, shield, or one weapon proficiency in order to add a new class skill to his list. As a caveat, a weapon proficiency can only be traded if an individual weapon is listed in the class's weapon list; ie, a rogue may trade out rapier or shortbow, but not dagger.

I wouldn’t mind paladins having it too. To me the classes that should get acrobatics are the ones that do the majority of running, jumping, dodging, and stunts in combat. Which to me implies every class except for the major spell caster (wizards, sorcerers, perhaps clerics).
