I'd like to run a pathfinder playtest game using the new rules.
But I'd like to know if anyone else would like to have a go with me.
All I need are four players to fill the roles of cleric, wizard, rogue and fighter. Four keen players who will post regularly.
The plot and character backgrounds should be simple and fairly straightforward so that we can concentrate on the playtest.
Character Generation rules (using the Pathfinder Alpha Test rules;
1) 28 point buy characters
2) Classes - one each of wizard, cleric, fighter and rogue. (Roll off initially to choose who gets what).
3) Races - preferably four different but that's up to you guys.
4) First level, max gold, no evil PC's
5) Characters to use the Alpha feat selection and skills.
The initial plot will be that one of the PC's has been given the title to an old ruined castle in the wilds. The rest of the party are either related or family retainers or the like sent to help him reclaim the fort and surrounding lands.
Let me know if you are interested.
Cheers

I am very pleased that you both want in.
That is an example of British understatement.
Just a few thoughts on the character generation. Perhaps we could regard this as slightly more collaborative than normal, with PC's and the DM trying to understand each others choices of feats/domains/spells? I ain't no expert in the rules but I'd like to be.
Also we have other releases coming up, what do we do about them? I may be running the game but you guys are solid, certainly enough to help us do the playtest justice.
Cheers

Thank you Mr wolf, you're too kind. ;)
I certainly do not mind being collaborative in this case. This is meant to be a playtest of new rules/updates. So, 'basic' rules , feats, etc, only, we want to see what THIS version of the rules do.
And I am certainly no powergamer, (Meaning I can read the same feats you guys do and not realize how taking feats A & C = 'super splat' , but taking feats A&B='nothing impressive')
I'm always looking for tips, combos, etc, to help me when I build, this time we all get to help each other!
As far as the next Alpha updates? Let's burn that bridge when they get here. If they affect the characters we are playtesting, then we can make the changes, (after being sure to keep careful notes of how our characters were doing before any changes.) Otherwise I say leave them till the next test run. You want to see how everything works together, but if you try TOO much at once, you might not be able to see what your looking for.
I'm Looking forward to it.
Edit- PbP makes a great playtesting ground, ready made notes! No extra work! ;)

Gaaaaahhhhh. Tempting. Very tempting.
[Got up, walked around the office, refilled my coffee cup]
But I'm already way too busy and probably doing more PbP than I should, including with you guys! So, as hard as it is, I'm gonna have to pass. That said, I'll keep an eye out, and if it doesn't fill up quick, I'll reconsider.

Pat makes Alpha team complete.
TheOcho you get to my first reserve and we both know how important they are.
SargonX, Ragadolf, Torillan and Pat please roll a d20 twice and let me know the results in the order they fall (you can spoiler the results if you want). Also just to help everyone include your first and second choice of class.
The dice roll off is important but nevertheless I trust you guys. One thought I do have is that one or two of you could move onto trying the new classes as and when they are released?
Cheers
