RotR using Pathfinder RPG?

Alpha Release 1 General Discussion

Okay, I've been leaning towards 4th edition for a while but after a lot of thought I realized that what I really loved about D&D was the material being produced by Paizo. If they're throwing their talent behind their own system, I'm willing to take that under serious consideration.

How easy would it be to run Rise of the Runelords with the Pathfinder RPG? How many monsters/NPCs would need to be converted?

If we do our job right... it'll be super easy to run Runelords with the Pathfinder RPG. We're VERY MUCH trying to keep things backwards compatible.

The goal is to be able to use a stat block from the 3.5 game and one from the Pathfinder RPG and be able to use them both together.

I'm just about to start running RoTRL with a new party, I'm going to see if any are willing to help playtest the new rules in this campaign.

Whoa, that'd be awesome. Totally keep us posted on how it goes! This sounds like the perfect playtest.

I started it with my group yesterday and it wouldn't be much trouble converting this early. Problem is that most of my group are playing classes that hasn't gotten any love in the Alpha Release 1 so I'll have to wait for release 2 or 3. Hopefully my players won't mind being lab rats :p

Just hope the new rules will include psionics, as it would make it easier to sell it to my players :p

I was thinking the same thing. My group started Burnt Offerings a little bit ago (about 2/3 the way through), so I'm going to bring up the idea of "converting" to the Paizo rules and acting as guinea pigs. :)

I'm starting up an online (Fantasy Grounds see ad here ) campaign with all new players on April 1st. I've downloaded the Pathfinder Alpha and I'll give it a once over and see if we can use it.

I'll keep you posted and put updates on my blogs

I'm interested to see how existing classes mesh with the PRPG system. With the efforts made to support backwards compatibility, I'd hope that classes like the warlock, the duskblade, and maybe even some of those funky things from Tome of Battle could easily be dropped into PRPG.

My Group is off to Thistletop, and I just dropped a note to everyone to have a look at the new rules for this weekend, and assuming I get everyone on board, I should be able to move right along with nary a hitch.

Ironically a lot of my house rules have been incorporated right into the new rules, which must mean I was doing something right :)

cheers

Hopefully I can get my group to try this out when I finish SCAP and my friend runs RotR. I'll let you know how my Scout/Ranger/Dread Commando turns out.

I'd like to think about using the Pathfinder Alpha rules with my RotR adventures that will be starting in a few weeks, but I'd already decided to use the pre-generated PCs in the backs of the instalments, and the Alpha RPG has no sorcerer class write-up.

I suspect that what our group will do is use 3.5 for the first campaign arc, and then maybe switch to the current state of your Pathfinder RPG for subsequent campaign arcs.

Partly, I'm using RotR to learn DnD in more detail than I already have, and so I suspect that it's probably not a great idea to be playtesting at the same time anyway... 8)
