Moving back up the hallway past the Anvil Altar room and to the dark corner of the hallway, the party finally quiets and gets back to business. Jaden pokes his head around the corner to take a gander to the east down the unexplored hall. He spots 2 doors on the left side about 10' and 15' down the hall, both closed. The light of the midday sun can be seen about 50' down from an open doorway on the right side of the hallway and through some ruined doorways in that general area.

Also, Keegan's character portrait.

Jaden grasps the door's handle with all care and stealth, slowly working the latch. The door opens inward to the right slightly and peeking into the next room he sees what looks to be a small study, gnawed bones on the floor and tufts of gray hair about. An old stone desk occupies the center of the room and it's polished surface is scratched and cracked in many places. The room smells of wet fur. An opening in the center of the west wall leads to another chamber and the hind end of a wolf can be seen in the opening. It doesn't appear to to have reacted to Jaden's stealthy moves yet. Perhaps it hasn't noticed the intrusion yet.
Posting map, roll initiative.

From the marching order I guess Effan starts in G4. He'll have a rope ready in one hand, his wand in his belt. As people move into the room he'll step past the door to I4 to stay out of the way and make sure nothing surprises us from the east. If possible and necessary cast light down the hall to the east to improve the view.

Are you trying to use Wild Empathy

Spoiler:
(Ex): A druid can improve the attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person. The druid rolls 1d20 and adds her druid level and her Charisma modifier to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

To use wild empathy, the druid and the animal must be able to study each other, which means that they must be within 30 feet of one another under normal conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.

A druid can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but she takes a –4 penalty on the check.

on the wolf? If so you need about a minute to influence the animal. From where the party is you guys can't see who or what is talking, so you really don't know if the wolf is talking or not, and part of Wild Empathy requires the wolf and druid to study each other. You only see a wolf butt sticking through the doorway. You can study it if you like though.......;P

Yes wild empathy to calm animal so we can bargain for the goods rather than fight. I realize this will take time and that the rest of the party may not let me (ini 12 :). Hozs however has no concept of time/rounds and will begin the spell or the attempt. also see discussion.

There are Worgs and Winter Wolves, but the wolf you see through the doorway looks like a regular wolf. There is a nature spell that bestows the power of intelligent thinking upon an animal, perhaps that gives it the ability to speak also?

Not quite sure what to do Faldor puts away his rapier and calls his lute to his hands. As it materializes he begins to sing a nameless tune.

whew--guess that means Hozs is immune :) I think it kicks in next round. Hosz ponders 'palavering' with a wolf while he figures out the best way to talk to the critter. Not one for multi-tasking he soon forgets to do one of them.

You don't see the the kobold anywhere.

Jaden moves forward quietly to take up a position near the doorway, looking for the kobold. Meanwhile Effan casts light down the eastern hallway to better show what is lurking down there.....nothing, it seems clear. Hozs mutters a spell to let him speak in the tongue of the animals and begins talking to the wolf in the doorway, asking it to help with destroying the reptilian humanoid. Keegan prepares for combat while trying to rack his brain for info on talking wild canines. Faldor begins singing a song of heroic actions and brave daring-do to help bolster the party's spirits. Raph pulls out his rapier and tries to move around the stone desk and into a position to flank Jaden if necessary.

The wolf in the doorway spins at all the commotion behind it and spots Jaden. It snaps at the fighter, grabbing hold of his calf in it's vicious jaws 1d20 3=21 to hit, 1d6 1=2 damage, and drags him to the ground (trip=CMB-1d20 1=21). Meanwhile another wolf springs through the doorway and lands on the stone desk, howling as he lands. Raph takes a poke at it as it bounds past but misses slightly. A growling voice is heard in the other room "Get them, kill them you bit@hes! They dare to intrude on my lair!?!?"
Jaden-

Spoiler:
From you position on the floor you can see the creature that is speaking, a large black wolf perched on the top of a broken column in the middle of the next room, about 6' off the ground. He looks smart and evil and unlike any wolf you've ever seen. A Knowledge Nature check could provide more info. Still no sign of Gurtlekep.

Keegan laughs raucously as he leaps into the fray. Using the first wolf as a springboard, he slams into the second, delivering a brutal downstroke with his morningstar.

Attack (skirmish): nat. 20; confirm: 14 + 1 = 15. If critical: 2d8 + 1 + 1d6 + 1d6 (additional skirmish damage from Telling Blow) = 17. If not: 1d8 + 1 + 1d6 = 10.

Male Gnome Sor 2 EP:?

After making sure the hallway is clear, Effan tries to peer past Hozs into the room. From quick glimpses of the action, the shouts and snarling, he gathers the nature of their opponents. He gathers himself and holds a spell on the verge of casting. Ready sleep to cast if he gets a clear shot at a wolf without friends in the 10' radius of effect. Will save DC 15.

Faldor is up.

male Human Druid 2

Hozs translates the growling voice. "Uhmmm... Get them, kill them you bit@hes! They dare to intrude on my lair!?!?," not realizing the party does not need it. Seeing Jaden's wound, and Keegan's proximity to the next critter Hozs releases his healing hare to bound among his allies. Finally he shouts toward the other room, "We're not intruders! We came to get some mushroom and will be happy to uhmmm... pay for them.
Fast healing 1 for the next three rounds. Adjust to H2. (can we see the growling voice beyond's owner?) If H can not that speak much, consider some of that ooc as talking to fighting critters is like training a horse to fly (and he will not try that trick again. :)

Male Gnome Bard 2

Faldor tries to move closer as he sings but still stay out of the way from the stonger fighters.

Jaden stands from the wolf's trip and sees a small dagger suddenly appear in his right shoulder, between the seams of his armor. A kobold shaped shadow appears from the corner of the other room, laughing at the fighter. (Gurtlekep is in D1).
1d20 3=9, 1d6 1=6 The remaining wolf is mad that Keegan flipped on by her so easily and presses the attack but misses the agile man. (Wolf is still on the desk in G2)
The Black wolf leaps down off the pillar with a snarl "You'll pay for killing my bit@h!" and moves to block the doorway and snaps at Keegan, 1d20 8=27-4 for cover=23to hit, 1d6 3=5 damage latching on long enough to try to pull his feet from under him but he doesn't have the leverage to accomplish the maneuver. Fakey,

For my information: can Effan see Gurtlekep?

Can he get off a sleep spell on the desk wolf without affecting any of the party? Maybe targetting the north corner shared by G1 and H1. (I'm not sure where Faldor is at this point.) If so, using the readied sleep spell against the desk wolf is Effan's first choice.

Second choice is for Effan to slip past Hozs to G1 and try to entangle the desk wolf. Throwing rope to entangle wolf. (1d20+2=13)

animate rope, entangle :

Spoiler:
The rope can enwrap only a creature or an object within 1 foot of it—it does not snake outward—so it must be thrown near the intended target. Doing so requires a successful ranged touch attack roll (range increment 10 feet). A typical 1-inch-diameter hempen rope has 2 hit points, AC 10, and requires a DC 23 Strength check to burst it. The rope does not deal damage, but it can be used as a trip line or to cause a single opponent that fails a Reflex saving throw to become entangled. A creature capable of spellcasting that is bound by this spell must make a DC 15 Concentration check to cast a spell. An entangled creature can slip free with a DC 20 Escape Artist check.

If you are in the doorway to the first room, or in the first room you can see the kobold. You can find a way to get off the Sleep spell without messing with the group, so I assume the sleep is used on the desk wolf unless you wanna try to hit the Worg and Gurtlekep with it, your choice.
