Paizo and Crocodile Games are pleased to announce a new line of unpainted metal miniatures for Pathfinder. The first wave, due in February, includes miniatures from Pathfinder #1—Rise of the Runelords Chapter 1: "Burnt Offerings".

Stay tuned for previews of more miniatures due in March, highlighting characters from Pathfinder #2—Rise of the Runelords Chapter 2: "The Skinsaw Murders".

Is there any way you guys could put up pictures of the miniatures "broken apart"? That is, what they look like when they are taken out of the blister. I know the great draw of the ptolus miniatures is they don't have to be assembled. I almost never buy metal miniatures I have to assemble because it never seems to turn out right. Seeing where the separation points are (if they exist) would be great for me.

Liberty's Edge

I'm not familiar with Crocodile Miniatures, but I always had the same problem with both Warhammer Minis and the Dungeons & Dragons Metal minis.

I've never had that problem with a Reaper Mini.

All of the Pathfinder miniatures so far are single-piece castings, except the Goblin on the dog (the goblin is a separate piece from the dog).

The only assembly required for the rest is to glue the figure to the plastic base.

Hope this helps.

Excellent! Thanks!

Fantastic! I'm definately getting the Iconics so!

Just like to say I pre-ordered the PF miniatures (and some more of those sweet ptolus minis) because they look cool and I got very quick feedback here on the boards.

Hello everyone, I'm the painter in who will be painting the minis that Chris FitzPatrick doesn't. DMcCoy1693 - I do accept commissions. Information about that, and a great many pictures of minis can be found on my site.

When are we gonna see some more 'generic' miniatures (non-iconic)? Like from your "Classic Monsters Revisited" book?
I'd love to see some re-imagined giants and Rakshasa.

Wow, Ironbriar looks MUCH more dangerous in pewter form! Very cool! It's too bad we wrapped up Skinsaw Murders last week, but I did swap out Xanesha for the Lamia Matriarch rogue from PF3, so I may still need Xanesha if it's available at some point in April. I don't know, though. It'll be close.

The rate that we're playing though, perhaps the mini's will get ahead of our game by PF4. I can only hope!

Just got the Goblin Commando, Sinspawn, Nualia & Erylium a couple of days ago. These minis are great. I started painting the Sinspawn yesterday. I can not wait to use these in the game. The only lucky thing about being on hiatus from the campaign is now I get a chance to paint some of these minis before we start back up.

Thanks for the link, Marike - fantastic website! I spent hours, this weekend, admiring the beautiful minis you've painted. I love looking at galleries of painted minis, they're a great source of inspiration for paint schemes, and I always pick up a few technique pointers from studying the work of pros.

Marike, your work is breathtaking!

I am totally with you. Unfortunately, we haven't found a way to make prepainted plastic miniatures that makes financial sense. When we do, we will do prepainted plastic. Because, trust me, I personally would rather have them painted for me. Just ask my hundreds of D&D minis. :)

Is the price difference in the painting or the profit margin for plastic vs. metal? I'd be willing to pay as much if not more than a booster box of DDMs for a set of prepainted plastics that fit directly into an AP I was running. Just name the price ;-)

I can't find the link, but there was a pretty neat ENWorld messageboard thread about a procedure called dipping.

This might be what you were referring to. Neat, I hadn't seen that one before.

Yep, that is the one! Thanks for tracking it down.

Games Workshop sell "inks" alongside their paint brand. They do a similar job.

Woah! Hold on. Did Paizo convert all of the Ptolus miniatures to Pathfinder??? Looks like it also happened with the Complete Adventures Miniatures too!

Did you lose the rights to do them or something?

I think that they just had an overstock of them, and they fit what the look of the pathfinder people in question.... I know the gamemastery compete encounters are slowly being worked into the pathfinder world, so that one doesn't surprise me as much....

We had a two-year license to produce the Ptolus minis, after which we retained the right to sell the sculpts under different names.

The real cost is in the steel molds needed to make the plastics. You have to be able to do thousands of units to recoup the mold costs.

Gosh, has it been 2 years since Ptolus release already?

Man, the time flies by ...

Not *all* of them... there are two that we felt didn't belong in the Pathfinder Chronicles setting. They're now in the paizo.com Exclusives section of the store.

Oh, I don't know ... that pistoleer could be using one of those wand-loading guns used in Entombed with the Pharoahs.

We already have the Janderhoff Wandrifler.

That's purrty. Very nice.

I gotta say I have purchased 2 cases of minis from each release from WotC plus many, many singles until this next set. I am not so keen on the new look of the classic monsters (I will leave it at that polite statement). So if it makes any difference I now have 2,000 bucks/year that I could spend on prepainted plastic minis. Will that help Paizo's profit margin? :) I could sweeten the offer a bit more if it gets the plastic flowing! :)

When are the minis currently in backorder expected to arrive?

Could we maybe get some kobold minis in the spirit of D1 Crown of the Kobold King?

And I would also like to second the proposal of having miniatures for the redone races present in Classic Monsters Revisited. Having some hobgoblins would be interesting, for its own sake and for running Burnt Offerings. Also, everybody loves some orcs...
