For some reason your post reminded me of an old Dungeon adventure. I looked through my collection. It was in Dungeon #16 and was called "Palace in the Sky" featuring cloud giants. The adventure featured a "cloud" island upon which the cloud giants lived and from which they raided. The history of the island was lost in the mists of time and the giants were merely the latest inhabitants.

Hmm. The giants raiding for supplies from their floating island makes me think of the flying party from Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Don't make me gay this thread up. You have no idea what we paladins are capable of.

Hey now, what's wrong with some healthy talk of our favorite female Iconics being naughty. Nothing I say!

That's ok.. Seoni and Merisiel have tongues. ;)

Magic goes a long way to simulate technology. Some of which is fairly cheap. Guilds would likely control the use of such items.

At the same time, some simple technology can overcome the need for magic. For example, I could see a series of cranes used to lift heavy goods up the side of a cliff. The system could be operated by a Merchant guild with a few fortifications and mercenaries to maitain the operation. Carts and goods would be lifted up over rough terrain for a small fee, while mounts and foot traffic take a smaller trail.

A conflict could even break out if a rival guild started offering magical transport of goods over the same route.

I don't think anyone has the exclusive rights to lust. I don't think it's proper to censor anyone. As long as it feels good, how can it be wrong?

I tame myself for these boards, however. I'm much more behaved in decent places.

That would be cool. I purchased Cityscape, and I'd love to actually use something from it.

As for floating towers, or a twist thereof, I recall the old movie, [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zardoz]"Zardoz." It featured Sean Connery in a costume very similar to Seoni's except that it's *MORE* revealing, and he sports a long, braided ponytail.

I just imagine what would happen if Seoni and Merisiel braided their hair together so that Kyra and Valeros get to play the game: untie the knot. Whipped cream is optional. Some how, Sean Connery and some Kobolds arrive, and one can hear the music of Soft Cell in the background.

That's just... weird.

That's one hell of a somatic component for a simple Summon Marc Almond spell.

About as common as robots, eh? So, how does that rate compared to the frequency of, say... turbines? =)

Like this (order of approximate commonness in Golarion):

Good-aligned drow rangers
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Turbines

It's kinda funny because my first thought is no matter how rare those last two might ever be, the chances of a turbine falling off an airship and smooshing a good-aligned drow ranger would pretty much be 100% in any sane DM's campaign.

You only need ONE turbine in the world, after all...

No good aligned drow dang it! GRRRR!

SirUrza wrote:

Come on, saying "no good drow" is like saying "no evil dwarves". Drow are humanoids, not outsiders, and they're quite smart to boot (+2 Int and all that). There's bound to be the occasional drow every alignment.

And I think they could pull off the occasional good drow without making a fuss over it, or making him the big angsty renegade.

Well, there aren't any more, no. The one there was just had Golarion's only turbine fall on his head. I've seen Donnie Darko, I know what happens when a turbine falls on your head...

Okay, what Varisian priest is a pedophile? And will the new alignment system have the love/fear axis? I'm lovefull good!

Okay. My previous post came off a lot more harsh than it needed to be. I blame a raging headache and being tired of the tendency of messageboards to overreact to misinterpretations.

So yeah, take the basic message of my previous post but assume the hostility is less than half of what it looks like. ;)

I could say the same thing about my post. I'd like to apologize... no, that's too Prince-of-Amberish, I do apologize for my rant, that would have been out of line even if I hadn't been misinterpreting your rarity chart, and I'll try extra-hard to think before hitting Submit in future. n.n;

I thought it was just a massive smear campaign against a very, very good man. He was in Ghost, for Pete's sake!!! My thoughts are righteous. Sparkle Motion WILL win.

This thread went sideways but I was looking for clarity:

If no airships, is ocean traffic the only non magical way of going from Taldor to say, Osirion?

What about for commercial use, I'm thinking of vacationing and trade traffic.

What are good alternatives? I didn't want to use griffins because of WoW. Taldor is certainly wealthy enough to afford mages who could construct flying vessels or pay for magical flying beasts.

I'd really like some paizo staff feedback here. If flying ships are not the "style" of Golorion, what would be used? Are dragons common enough that they could be employed in such a fashion?

I know the steam controversy on here is heated so I won't even mention trains...

Another question I have is about timepieces. Do watches or some portable equivalent exist? no hourglasses-I'm talking clock work stuff.

I vote giant trained eagles. but that's just me.

I'm fine with keeping the Inner Sea Region at the default level of tech. But that doesn't mean that one of the other continents can't be a Steampunk paradise.

The flying ship a la Halruaa seems like it would be more appropriate to this setting.

Actually it kind of does. that level of tech once it's been around for a while... tends to be viral.

I definitely play Alkenstar that way when I run golarion. The problem is that paizo opened the box on guns and alien tech and have been trying to slam it shut ever since.

How exactly was this door opened? To what extent? IF you remember Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, that ship had sci-fi level of tech but due to it's nature it had no lasting impact on the World of Greyhawk.

Actually it's the guns door that's being closed, alien tech is fine last time JJ wrote on this.

what about hang gliders they are low tech... can we have them???

and golems that look like Seoni?? can we have them too?
