Sovereign Court

So I just posted my entry. Then I went and looked at the second-string item thread, and one of those items is incredibly similar to mine.
I'm upset about that, sine they're close enough for the Judges to go "hmmmm....."
Too freaking late now, I guess.
We'll just have to see what happens. I'm hoping mine is different enough (and cooler, sorry) for the judges to put me up, anyway.

meh.

It's not the bird feathers one that turns you into a raven is it? If so that makes three of us, mate...

I'm pretty slaphappy right now, but it cracks me up that both of your avatars look deeply troubled.

O:)

Ha ha yeah. We do look a bit grumpy don't we? Especially that dwarf...

Dedicated Voter Season 6

Uh ... how are you seeing the other entries ?

not the entries.... the items people chose not to post... it's one of the other threads in this section.

Well the judges aren't grading those so you should be fine, right? And if you are thinking that your idea a "second string" one because someone else thought they had a better one and abandoned the one similar to yours, I wouldn't worry. No one really knows what the judges gonna like, and you only have to come in 32nd place anyhow.

I think it would be pretty funny for the judges to pick an item similar to someone else's "second-string" cast off item. Whoever posted the second-string version of said item would doubtless feel like a dumdum.

I'm not even reading that thread, and I doubt my fellow judges are either. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

The sleep being lost probably doesn't come from the fact that someone has a similar item, but that now two people have said they submitted similar items to one of the "second string" items. Implying there may be more.

Great minds, I suppose.

There has been a certain amount of repeated themes. But that's inevitable with any big contest.

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

Unfortunately, most of the repeated themes we've seen have been repeated bad themes.

Each of the items we have all liked have all been very different from the other submissions for the most part.

I can hear Wolfgang's voice echoing in my head: "Ok, this is about the 10th XXXXX-type item we've seen. Reject."

Once all is said and done, I'd love to see some commentary on what made the bad items bad as well. Any chance we'll get to see the items that weren't selected as well as the ones that were?

No chance.

We may, however, put together a little essay on common mistakes, themes, funny observations from the contest, etc.

Er whoops...

A friend of mine sent me the flyer for this contest literally about 2 days ago. First of I think its a fantastic idea and I give you guys a ton of credit for putting it together.

After brainstorming and working like crazy for two days I was able to put together a submission that I felt was at least worthy of a try. Unfortunatly I made a mistake. I put my name on it, only to see the thread saying not to about 5 minutes later. I honestly did not know we weren't supposed to. Am I automatically out?

Since the entry submission tool didn't make that clear, I went ahead and scrubbed all the names. (Lots of people included their name as part of the submission.) So no, you won't be penalized.

Great, alright, so at least I have a shot lol.

Again props to you guys for putting this together, great idea. Even if i don't get picked i'm definitely incorporating the item I made the next time I play, so it certianly won't go to waste.

I'm guessing that massive damage spell variant items are a little hackneyed at this point.

Well, since that's pretty much exactly what I was interested in, that's great, since I'm already looking to the future, especially now that I've found Kobold Quarterly.

And it's much better than a public thrashing for everyone whose items ended up in the "yet another version of crappy item X" bin.
