Hello All,
I'd love to give a go at running a Rise of the Runelords campaign. I realize there are already quite a few such games running here, but I'm hoping there are five dedicated people who would be interested in playing nonetheless. Characters would be created using a 28 point buy, maximum gold for first level. I'd prefer core rules only, just to keep things simpler. Also, I would grant each character one bonus feat from the RotRL Player's Guide for a good background. I should be able to post updates on a daly basis, so the game should move fairly quickly.
Thanks, I hope to see some good players take interest!

Great, it looks like this game will find traction, with four people interested already. To answer your questions...
Mr. Jason: Yes, we will be running the game right here on the Paizo boards. And, not only are you not too late, you're the first on board!
Zoomackulas: If you want the rogue slot, it's yours.
Radavel: Sure, a paladin would be great.
ManPig: Like I said, I'd like to keep things moving pretty quickly, so it would be best if you could post at least once every 24 hours, or at the very least every 48 hours. If you think you may have trouble keeping up with that pace, this may not be the best game for you. But if you can handle it, I'd be glad to have you.
So then...so far, we have:
Mr. Jason
Zoomackulas Eichendar - Rogue(?)
Radavel - Paladin
ManPig
Everybody, keep in mind that I'd like to have a well balanced party, so if Zoomackulas does want to take the rogue slot, then I'll need Mr. Jason and ManPig to tackle the arcane and divine caster roles. If we can get a fifth player on board, then one PC can be a 'wild card' or overlap a bit with one of the others.
Go ahead and submit character sheets whenever you can guys! Remember, you need a solid background and description to get the bonus feat.

Drint, I hate to burst your bubble, but I'm not typically a fan of PCs that have monstrous races. I'd prefer for now that the characters for this game stick to the basics. Got any other character ideas you'd like to throw out there?
No.
I'm sorry for wasting your time, but I really like Drint...Hey! I have this guy!
How do you think Skia would fit?
Really, shes more of an illusionist than a sorcerer. Or maybe a rogue, so...
Wild cardish enough?

Does she have the right background to get the bonus feat?

Looks like you have 5, but I would be interested if there is still an opening. No problem if there is not one, since I am in 4 other games and want to make sure others get a chance to play. If there is an opening, I am not partial to type of pc. Whatever role needs to be filled, I would be up to the task.
Incase the game is filled, good luck and have fun.
Cheers

Actually, maybe it should be Track.

I've never done a play by post...but I'd love to give it a try! Are you still looking for a 5th?
If so I would like to run an AE variant Druid but I would be open to filling whatever hole exists in the party..

Kobold Cleaver: I looked over Skia's sheet carefully. While she doesn't seem to be a badly constructed character, I question whether she would fit in well with the other PCs in this game, especially if there is going to be a paladin. A character whose background is built upon thievery and deceit is not really what I'm looking for. Something more in the heroic mould is more my style. Sorry. It looks like your style and mine overall may not mesh well, so I think I'm going to pass on you for this game. Maybe next time. No hard feelings I hope.
ManPig: Sure, let's give it a go! I will pencil you in tentatively for a divine caster of some sort. I'd like to get in character sheets asap, but there is no set deadline. Does sometime in the next 2-3 days work for everyone?
Utak: I can take you on as PC #5. Do you have any preferences at all for character type? Between you and Mr. Jason, I'd like one arcane caster. The fifth PC could really be anything at all.
Zoomackulas: I look forward to checking out your rogue!
DitheringFool: I'm not looking for more than 5 PCs for this game, but I'd be happy to make you first alternate. If anybody else has to bow out, you'll be up next in line.
All: In case I was unclear, the bonus feat I referred to for good background would need to be one from the RotRL Player's Guide, it can't just be anything. Also, a 'good background' would be one that makes references to the people and places of Varisia as detailed in the same guide. Backgrounds should conclude with PCs coming to Sandpoint for the festival commemorating the new temple (or, PCs could also be Sandpoint natives).
Roster
1. Mr. Jason - ??
2. Zoomackulas Eichendar - Rogue(?)
3. Radavel - Paladin
4. ManPig - Divine Caster
5. Utak - ??
Alternate: DitheringFool

Great, it looks like you still have the slot open for an arcane caster. I'd be happy to play that role. I have a concept for a buff-wizard that I think would be really neat. It might leave us a bit shorthanded for blasting though, but if we have a fifth... what are you thinking, Utak? I'd like to know what sort of character would fit the bill...

Guys, I've created a thread on the PbP Discussion board for this game. Now that we have the players lined up, let's take further OOC discussion there via this link:
Rise of the Runelords by Cry Havoc!
By posting over there you will officially accept your place in the game. See you there!

Utak |

Hey Cry Havoc,
Thank you for the invite. I am interested and would love to be involved. I am already playing in 3 games and DMing 1 game though, and I would hate to be stingy. If DF is still interested, please give him my spot, and I will take the alternative spot. I hope this is OK with you. I will keep an eye on this thread though, and the discussion thread. If the 5th spot is still open by tomorrow, I will throw a character concept your way in the Discussion Thread.
With the current party rounding out, it looks like you could use an arcane blaster or another meat shield. If I am in, I would prefer some type of Dwarven Fighter, but I could make a Wizard or Sorceror if need be. What would you rather?

Cry Havoc! |

Utak, that is very generous of you! Thank you for desiring to share the fun with your fellow Paizoites!
DitheringFool, the fifth slot is therefore yours, if you would care to step forth and claim it.
Utak, as to your final question...it seems that either character concept could be feasible. If you were to choose a dwarven fighter, that would make the party quite formidable in melee (alongside Ravadel's paladin)...nothing wrong with that! As for a wizard, that would depend on Mr. Jason, who also expressed interest in an arcane caster. Still, if you went more blasting, and he for buffing, there could be a nice synergy there. Anyway, that discussion is all academic, depending on whether DF is still game to jump in. Let us wait for his reply.

Yes I would love to play!
I was thinking along the lines of a human Druid with the variations found here - I'm not interested in wildshape. Does this work for the party? If not tell me what you need as a 5th wheel - Bard, archer, another caster, whatever. I'll check back every 20-30 minutes or so.
THANKS!

Cry Havoc! |

Utak: Sounds good, consider yourself an alternate, and feel free to lurk as often as you like! :)
Coreans Disciple: Welcome aboard as alternate and lurker as well!
DitheringFool: Welcome to the game! As for your character...the variant druid would be just fine with me. I think such a character would mix nicely as the 'wild card' fifth character. Some additional divine magic, some secondary melee punch (more of a skirmisher perhaps) added to the mix. Plus, it sounds like that's the character you really want to play, and that's important. I'm all for it!
ManPig: Yeah, 28 point buy is a bit restrictive, but you guys are getting full hp, plus a bonus feat...and there are five of you, in a well balanced party. So, I think you'll have a fair shot at survival, if you play it smart.
All: With the play group finalized, let's go ahead and retire this thread, and move the party over to the PbP Discussion board. Thanks!
