Tuna and mayonaise with sweetcorn and a twist of honey mustard! :)
Or
Get some nice thick wholemeal bread 'butter it' with tomato ketchup (quite thick) then throw in a couple of slices of red leister cheese, then a whole packet of crushed up Cheesy watsits (cheesy puffs in USA?) and a couple of slices of fresh tomato. YUM! :)

There's certainly something to be said for a nice iceberg lettuce sand.. erm sammich -only 'buttered' with a very mild creamy cheese spread like Piladelphia. MMMMMMmmmmm!
Treat your buds of taste to one today! :)
Salmon and cucumber rocks on a nice fresh white bun -a summers day sarnie.

Oh great and powerful sammich god!
Love reubens (with real corned beef rather than the deli pastrami...and LOTS o real butter)
Local place here makes a turkey russo, which has turkey and about 1.5 cloves of garlic plus provolone grilled on one of those flat greasy grills, toasted homemade bun about the size of two fists, and of course butter.
That same place makes a hoagie with 'gappagu'(cappicola?), provolone, ham, genoa salami, green leaf lettuce, long stringy white onions, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, homemade roll, and tomatoes that he says he has coming in from Jersey...man, are they succulent. Even in December this guy has amazing tomatoes. Anyway, the sammich is about the size of yer forearm and 7$ with a lil deal of potato salad.
Another place makes a fresh tuna and roma tomato and cucumber in a pita bread sammich. MMMMM. Served with a cold pasta salad. Green peppers, purple onions, curly pasta and some kind of mayo and cracked black pepper dressing.
When Ima needing comfort food, I get wicked with grilled cheese! Add a dash of salsa to 'em, or some mozzarella and pepperoni slices, or make 'em with two slice of pepperjack cheese. I grill 'em on top of stove with REAL butter! (my ex made 'em on cookie sheet IN oven...maybe one of the reasons we broke up)
For when Im in a veggie mood theres a place here (called The Sub Shop!) that takes every veggie they got, including banana peppers, tomatoes, green n black olives, onions, about three different lettuces and adds CASHEWS into the sammich for flavor.
Now, one time when I was in N'Awlins, I had a muffaletta. HOLY JUMPIN BEANS! Go there and have one, or learn from southerner how to make 'em...maybe Paula Deen.
And, my 'trying a new restaurant' sammich is a turkey club, if they make that one right, Ill come back...same with chicken fried rice in an asian joint. Im a loyal to those who can deliver the goods.

Salmon and cucumber rocks on a nice fresh white bun -a summers day sarnie.
That's some good stuffs - maybe a bit of spicy arugula, fresh cracked black pepper, a dab of honey mustard.
A local place serves BLATs (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato) that's damn tasty, along with a turkey-avocado-cucumber-dried cranberry-cashew wrap that nummy.I'm a sucker for a good club sammich as well - a well made club sammich is a slice of heaven, and is my measuring guide for a sammich shop.

non-authentic U.S.-made vegemite
I eat weird food.
What is all of this nonsense about non-authentic Vegemite. Blasphemer!!
Also, if you enjoy a good Vegemite Sammich, try it with either Strawberry Jam or Cream Cheese (Vegemite on one slice, SJ or CC on the other, then slap 'em together). My 19 month old loves her Ve-mite & Cheese Sammiches! =)

Hmmmm... A Crumpet Shop sammich on their thick, delightfully chewy Highland bread with King Salmon, water cress, cucumbers, tomato, radish slices and sprouts. Accompanied, of course, by a cup of their excellent Earl Grey tea. *happy sighs*
OR, a tuna melt on sourdough with solid white albacore and mild cheddar eaten with a nice bowl of thick clam chowder. O_O (On a stormy winter day.)

I think I may have to disappoint some of you people, with your insane sandwiches. I like simple things. Like turkey, cheddar, shredded lettuce, and salt&pepper. Or ham, salami, lettuce, honey mustard, salt&pepper.
Though I may never eat your creations(too many flavors at once makes me sick, same thing with rich foods and flavors), I salute you for your creativity.

No one's more sandwich exotic than me. I welcome your shallonge.
I like:
Humanely slaughtered pumpernickel
A bison head marinated in super heavy weight racing oil
Pickled meteorites
A juniper bush
Slather the works in Armenian love gravy (whatever that is) and toast in a crematory oven for one second.

OMFG I want one right now!
SAMMICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depending on what I'm looking for, I have several "grades" of sammich. The highest sammich grade is the "meal" grade sammich. This is for when the sammich is going to be all I eat for dinner and it involves quite a bit of preparation and effort:
Kaiser bun
Mesquite-marinaded chicken breast
Monterey Jack cheese slice
Black beans (cooked with a bit of sage and rosemary)
Sour cream
Chopped green onions
Mmmmm.... delicious. The second grade is the "heavy snack" grade. This level of sammich is for when I don't have a lot of prep time but am still quite hungry. Often, these are accompanied by chips.
Whole wheat bread
Thinly-sliced Prosciuotto (sp?)
Thinly-sliced smokey turkey breast
Spicy brown mustard
Cheddar or colby cheese
Iceberg lettuce
A tiny dab of mayonaise (spread on the top piece of bread)
Finally, there is the "light snack" sammich. This is a quickie designed for snacking or just running out the door.
Whole wheat bread
Thinly-sliced turkey breast
Cheddar cheese
Yellow Mustard
Mayonaise

2 slices of $0.99 a loaf generic bland white bread slathered in real butter and separated by a 1/2 inch (about 1 1/2 cm) of Tillamook Special Reserve Extra Sharp Aged Cheddar Cheese*. Slowly grill over low heat (just enough to melt the cheese and toast the bread), and watch out for cheese spillage.
When golden brown, remove from heat and cut into two halves.
Dip into tomato soup.
Simplicity can lead to perfection.

I do.
Fried Eggplant, with hot cappicola, and provolne on a hero. MMMMMM
SAMMICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try the same thing except do this.
First, leech the eggplant with salt to remove bitterness. Roast in a marinara. Then, serve on a toasted ciabatta bun (which you brushed with EVOO and garlic) topped with fried cappicola.
This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO goooood.
SAMMIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A fresh, home-grown, heirloom tomato sliced thick. Toss it on some soft white bread with a little bit of mayo, fresh cracked black pepper and kosher salt to taste. Yum.
-OR-
Jewish Rye, buttered and grilled until nicely toasted, with honey-dijon marinated all white meat chicken (fresh grilled and sliced thin, of course) and cucumbers. Toss it all together with some organic mixed baby greens and muenster cheese... (I used to make these when I was a short order cook at an unnamed American casual dining restaurant. The cooks always ate better then the customers.)

On Tuesday I went to a sub shop that had a "chicken fajita" sub, with grilled chicken, peppers, onions, cheddar, jack, and some kind of sauce I couldn't identify, but it was a delicious sammich.
Or you can have one of Jade's creations...

I haven't had one of these in a while now (although I do still make partial variations (the most common of which is C&B Roll, Pastrami, RRB, Pork, Lettuce, Cheese, S&P) simply because it can be difficult to have all of the ingredients on hand at once.
I had a Sandwich shop (that has been closed for a while now, sniff) that would actually make this for me. After a little while of coming in once or twice a fortnight the girl actually knew everything to put on it before I said it.
The sandwich (plus a coke) set me back nearly $15AUS but man was it worth it! (And this was 10 years ago, man I would HATE to think what it would be worth now!)

Wow. Now that's a sammich.
I like egg salad - lots and lots of eggs, olives and tomaoes, light on the mayo. Splat a big glop of this onto a big, thick slice of whole wheat bread and add some lettuce, gherkins and a slice or two of tomato. Yum!
Or toast up some big buns or rolls and fill them with Swedish meatballs and baked beans. Can't go wrong with Swedish meatballs.
One of the things I miss most from my years in London is Indian-style sandwiches - pitas stuffed with potato curry or rolls with chiken tikka and crispy veggies.
Drat, I'm hungry now. *stalks off towards the fridge*

When I was in Monterey, California (in my military days) we always used to go to this awesome sandwich shop called "Campagno's." Best. Sandwiches. EVER.
My favorite was the breaded chicken breast with bacon and gooey provolone cheese and bacon and TONS of tasty mayo and bacon. And the sandwiches were frickin' huge. I would usually order a HALF sandwich, then I'd eat *half* of that and be STUFFED. And very content. I believe they are still in business for anyone who lives in that part of the country...

I can totally forgive the English of their bad pizza and tiny tea sandwitches for introducing me to European egg salad. ;)
*GASP!* :O
We have good pizza places over here -honest! (With a catch of course...) If you fancy nice pizza while in the UK only go to the most overly expensive and posh looking pizza restaurant you can find and be prepared because you may have to eat it with a knife and fork. –no fingers! :)
As for our lovely, dainty little tea sandwiches... If you stick out your pinkie finger while eating them this taps into the mystical leylines of Avalon that run up and down our isle and magically enhances the flavour thus making them taste miles better! ;)

DLI Grad? Campagno's is indeed still in business, and ships their sandwiches overnight to anyplace in the country. I still carry Bennet's card in my wallet.
