Calendar question

Rise of the Runelords

I am going to start my RotR campaign in a week from now, and I have decided to have the players make a calendar for the day they are currently on.

It states that "The Swallowtail Festival begins promptly, as scheduled, on the first day of autumn", and I understand we have the year 4707 AR.

Question #1: I guess the first day of autumn is the 1'st of Pharast. Is this correct?

Question #2: What day of the week is 1'st of Pharast 4707 AR?

I know this isn't that important, but if I am having the players make a calendar, it would be nice to be in sync with what You publish in the future.

Pharast (March) would be Spring.

The month you're looking for would be Rova (September). On these boards there's been some debate whether Autumn begins on the 1st of September or the 23rd: hence either the 1st of Rova or the 23rd. I think that depends on your own research and personal preference. If you choose Rova 1, that would make it Starday, but it would be Sunday if you went with the 23rd. You might also come to prefer another calander, etc. for which everything's up in the air.

I prefer the 23rd where my calanders say "Autumn begins," since Shelelu arrives shortly afterwards which alarms the townsfolk since she normally arrives in late Autumn, which would be near late November/ early December (Neth and Kuthona, respectively), and Pathfinder #2 feels like a cool October adventure (Lamashan) after the party wraps up Pathfinder #1 in a few weeks.

Rova 23rd sounds solid to me, DarkArt.

Perhaps Selsted lives south of the Equator, so for him, fall is in March.

Thanks for the info. Just messed up with Spring/Autumn. Not sure why I did that. :)

I would go for the 23rd, as I would agree that the start of Autumn seems right here. Further, as the 23rd is Sunday, it makes sence to start the adventure on the Rest/religion day.

Scarab Sages

Personaly, I prefer calendars that are easy to follow and that allow me to have important celebrations always happen at the same time.

My calendar has the same 12 months as named in the blog, but each month is exactly 30 days. I add 5 extra days between the quarters, one for each solstice and equinox and one other extra day after the summer solstice. I also add another extra day every fourth year after the winter solstice. Change of the year happens exactly the day of the winter solstice.

Each month contains 3 weeks of 10 days, so I just added 3 more days to the week presented in the blog. I then rearanged the days a bit to fit my taste and have the "days' purposes" spread over each week.

I find it's easier for my players and me to follow, especialy the days of the week, since each month start with the same day of the week. And you have 5-6 definite celebration days that are always holidays, are outside the normal months and mark each change of season.

Did I overlook where they named the calendar months in either Pathfinder #1 or #2, or were they named in a post online or something? If it's on an online document, could I please get a link? I just know that at least one person in my gaming group will want to keep a meticulous track on the dates. Thanks!

Check the Paizo Blog (not the store blog) for the August 10th entry.

Now some talented person around here made a calender in Excel based off of this.. I'm looking to find it for you now...

Thank you very much! I found the blog entry. That should do nicely to quiet the timetrackers at my table. :) I appreciate the quick response too!

No problem buddy!

I couldn't find the link but I had it saved at home.

This is not my work, but I saved it and have been using it.

Pathfinder Calender

Hi, just found this calendar... very good, I like that it shows the moon cycles and everything... but it would be great to have this extended to 4708 as well, the time just keeps ticking over and my characters are fast approaching the New Year.

Does anyone have any ideas on who put this together, and how to get in contact with them?

Anyone?

You know, this author surfaced recently...

And I commented to him. Just a sec, I'll go through my recent posts and hope it hasn't exceeded the boards buffer. I might be able to backtrack to that thread.

FOUND IT

It's Erian_7 who did the calender.

For months I was trying to give him credit, and could never find the thread where it was originally posted.

But here it is... Note, I changed the Festival to the 23rd from the 1st..

In this thread...

His comments and link are towards the end of the thread, so keep reading. Without a Private Message function though, it might be tough to get ahold of him if he has no e-mail in his profile. I don't see him post often these days.
