Idea(s) for Pathfinder Chronicles product(s)

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Sorry if this is not the right place.

Anyway, I have an idea or two about some products. Feel free to call me an idiot for even suggesting those:

Prepainted plastic miniatures of the NPCs, Iconics, monsters from the bestiary, and anything based on the artwork. Okay, just kidding on that one (it would be great, but I don't think that the product would be viable. But maybe metal ones?)

But what about Pathfinder Chronicles Volume One. As in, the actual (as far as you can call a fictional book from a fictional world "actual") book as the first heroes from the Pathfinder Society wrote, with all the stories, dossiers, information. It could be a novel, or a mixed novel/setting book, or something.

They aren't exactly what your suggesting, but have you looked at the catalogue for upcoming Pathfinder support products? Some of your second idea are addressed in that, even though
I haven't seen anythiing along the lines of a novel, but its been a few weeks since I last looked.

Plus I think Paizo needs to get a better picture of how well their going to do long term before considering getting into doing miniatures.

We would LOVE to have prepainted plastic minis of our stuff, but it's not going to happen. We MIGHT get some unpainted metal minis, but I can't say for sure.

Novels might happen if several happy events occur in conjunction. Right now, who knows? It's extremely doubtful that we'll ever print the entirety of Pathfinder Chronicles Volume 1, since that would limit our creativity and what we can attribute to it.

Robert is pretty spot-on. It would take some phenomenal success before we'd even consider thinking about proposing doing minis ourselves again. Far more likely is that we'll license the right for someone else to do them.

As I said, I was just kidding - well, half-kidding: I'd love to see plastic Pathfinder Goblins, but I know that it probably isn't feasible, with plastic figures having very high fixed costs and being viable only if you can see in large numbers.

I guess you're right. But how large are those pathfinder volumes? Are they all hundreds of pages, or are there maybe shorter volumes? The mix of novel and story book might work.

Yes, and I'm pretty much sold on all of them.

I know, it's a bit early for novels I guess.

I don't think its to early for novels. Eberron was pumping those babies out incredibly early. Lets see some runelord drama, or riddleport noir books. Maybe a free supplement of short stories set in pathfinder verse. I would love to contribute a story from a goblins perspective, or maybe even a sinspawn. Never mind the potential for pathfinder-esque stories like those spoken of in pathfinder #1. Its hard to discern what I mean here between pathfinder's in-game stories, and pathfinder the book, but I hope I got it across... Short stories!

I actually would NOT want to see novels on the Pathfinder Adventure Path. As much as I love Forgotten Realms, the plethora of books has to me an adverse effect on playing in the campaign setting. It feels weird to design against the knowledge the books lend to the campaign world. So I can do without Pathfinder novels, although short stories would be nice.

The novels wouldn't have to be tied to the adventure paths. They would not have to play on the same continent or in the same millenium. They would not have to be considered canon. They could use some of the events in GameMastery modules or Pathfinder Adventure Paths, but not set them in stone, and never claim to.

Novelising some of the Pathfinder Chronicles entries would work as a entertaining-to-read history lesson.

How do you get an avatar? I just created my profile and there is no spot for avatar pictures, yet there are members here who have avatars.

It's in "My Account" (top of the page) under "Messageboard Settings"

If we're tossing out ideas, something I wouldn't mind is a "Faiths" book, with a series of articles like the Desna one from Pathfinder #2. The Gazetteer sounds like it'll cover this partly, but that book's got a lot to cover *other* than it. Something to help sell the faiths to the players so they don't think they're "generic" at first glance and get them excited/hooked would help a ton.

I'm sure we will, once we have all 20 done. In about 5 years...

If we're throwing out ideas, I would love to see side treks brought back. They were one of my favorite features in Dungeon. They could be sold as website exclusive PDFs, or compiled into a single anthology.

In the anthology format, one or two of them could tie in with Pathfinder or some GameMastery module. Often, there are juicy details provided that are left open . . . might be a nice "cross promotion" to explore some of these loose ends in mini-adventures.

I'm sure you guys have many, MANY reasons why this isn't a brilliant idea, but...
have you guys considered a joint venture with the folks over at Reaper? Their Legendary Encounters line of pre-painted plastic miniatures is excellent, and I could envision great things if you all worked together. Maybe get them to do some prepainted plastic minis based on the work of Wayne Reynolds' Pathfinder creations?

Any reason why this couldn't be done?

Lisa mentioned this about miniatures, and I was hoping for more info in a "week or so."

Expect news on the miniatures front very soon.
