As the final rays of sunlight fall upon the square the people of Sandpoint gather again to participate in the ceremony to christen the new church. They mill about the square waiting for the ceremony to start. A loud crack reverberates from the cathedral stairs, startling everyone. Father Zantus stands there, beaming at the crowd. "If everyone would please join me in a moment of prayer for all those lost in the Late Unpleasantness." He says, bowing his head in prayer. After a moment he looks out over the crowd and looks as if he's about the speak when, from further down the street, a shriek is heard. Adn then another and another. Soon another sound joins the cacophony of screams and shouts. High pitched voice giggle in disturbing glee and a macbre song is sung by a high pitched, off-key singer somehwere nearby.
"Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblis cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!
Goblins race and goblins jump.
Goblins slash and goblns bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!
Chase the baby, catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked and flesh be stewed,
We be Goblins! You be food!"
Soon many of the hideous little creatures have taken up the chant.
You hear something cackling nearby and people near you start to shriek as a small creature races past. A stray dog who had been sleeping next to a wagon yelps and collapses in a spreading pool of blood. The small form that just raced by crouches under the cart giggling with disturbing glee as blood drips from the steel blade that it holds and it eyes the crowd for its next target. Most of the crowd begins to flee towards the cathedral doors where Father Zantus is beckoning, trying to get as many people as he can to safety inside.
Please make a Spot check (DC 12) to determine if you can participate in the surprise round (involving only the goblin under the cart).
Another goblin hops up onto the table where Ameiko earlier sold her delicious curried salmon and starts shaking his crudely made weapon at the fleeing crowd, shouting insults in his language before beginning to stuff his pockets with the remnants of lunch while a third dashes into the square following a fleeing child who screams with panic. All around you the sounds of chaos and panic fill Sandpoint’s streets as the guard tries to mobilize and fight off the hoard of goblins.
Initiative please. I have a map but I can’t seem to upload it onto photobucket. I hate dial-up. We can go without a map or I can send it to all of you.
As the situation stands, Tzek, Khev, Raz, and Torillan are out in the crowd and Sshantera is still in the cathedral. There are a variety of tables, benches and hay bales scattered about the square for seating. The goblin on the table is on the western side of the square. The one chasing the child is just coming up High street (to the South) and the goblin hiding under the cart is also to the south.

I have no problem going without the map. But I don't know about the others. I'll go along with the majority.
Spot Check and Init Roll, respectively

I can't see what's frightening the people. I glance at Father Zantus to make sure he can't hear me then I whisper a short prayer:

The goblin is about 20 ft away, close enough for you to run up to it and deliver a sound blow to the toothy little thing.
As you approach it's eyes light up with malicious glee and it raises it's crude weapon to strike. As soon as you come with in range it jabs viciously at the highest point it can reach from its present position: your knee. Fortunately it is a poorly aimed blow and barely nicks you.
2 pts damage
Your foot impacs its toothy maw and it is slammed back into the wagon's wheel. It quickly recovers, cursing you as it spits out blood and broken teeth. It approaches again, this time more carefully. It swings, but its blade hits the bottom of the cart near its head and breaks off at the handle. The goblin looks puzzeledly at it's blade before dropping it and gnashing its teeth at you.
Nat 1's with a dogslicer suck.
Please post your actions everyone and I'll consolidate them once the round is over. I'm still looking for online maps.

Taking care not to let my guard down,
casting defensively (1d20+5=24)
I invoke the divine power of my deity:
"By Your Will must chaos bow!" casting protection from chaos
Then I draw my rod of office and sling my shield into place and prepare to wade into combat.

Seeing Tzek in a tussle with a goblin under a cart, Torillan looks up to see a screaming child running up the street in his direction.
Instinctively he draws both swords, trying to discern what may be behind the child, casting glances between pthers darting in and out of his way.
Bad spot roll, so waiting to see if Torillan can see what is chasing the child.

Sorry 'bout not posting earlier. Been a tad bit busy over the past week.
Khev's Spot check (1d20-1=3)
Khev's Initiative roll (1d20+1=4)
Ouch!
Khev looks towards the nearest goblin and invokes Naberius, calling upon the power of the Grinning Hound's persuasive words.
In a low, gravelly voice, Khev commands the goblin, "Fall!"
Treated as the command spell. Will DC 13

Please post your actions and I'll arrange them into a semblance of order once I hear from Sshantera.
The child runs toward the cathedral doors where Father Zantus is sheparding the last few people from the square inside. "Help! Helllp! Wait for meee!" The child screams, only steps ahead of the raucously singing goblin who chases him with ill intent.
He's about 15 ft from you, Torillan.

The goblin screeches to halt just out of reach. The child runs past and up the steps of the church where Father Zantus admits him and rapidly shuts the heavy wooden door. The goblin instead turns to you and says in crude common "You instead Longshanks!" and charges at you trying to bite at you as he savagely slashes at your knees and gut. His blade catches in your robes which weakens the blow but it still nicks your thigh. 1 point damage
I'll give Sshantera another hour or so.

He's about 15 ft from you, Torillan.
Torillan moves quickly to intercept the goblin. As soon as the child passes, he swings down at the goblin rushing by...
Single attack at goblin with shortsword

Khev, the goblin turns to you and raises his dogslicer menacingly "Die Longshanks! he shouts and begins to charge towards you, but when you command him to fall he does so, skidding in the dirt.
Raz, The goblin screeches to halt just out of reach.
Tzek, Your foot impacs its toothy maw and it is slammed back into the wagon's wheel. It nimbly dodges your second kick and attempts to grab onto your leg as it swings past but it misses and falls on its face in the dirt before your feet.
Torillan, your blow cleanly decapitates the goblin in mid-cackle.
Sshantera works her way out of the cathedral and will be in the square next round.
Sorry it took awhile, life has been rather hellish recently. Not only do we lack an internet connection but out well is all f!&*ed up too.
