Mad Cow Disease

Mad Cow is fallout from possibility manipulation...When you alter a set of possibilities (strings) you cause the previous set to collapse and create a black hole around which debris entanglement orbits (matter)...Mad Cow is a response (whether a psychological effect, a genetic rewrite, or worse a change in real events-maybe some people who ate the cow at a point in its future were wiped from existance so they were not eaten...events that effect across part of your possibility bandwidth creating damage to part of you but not all of you...fallout seems limited to the USA and Canada...so are the Americans doing experiments that will destroy the rest of us or are we looking looking at the gravity shockwave of a supernova and we are making necessary adjustments to our own future to get out of the way of certain extinction?

String Theory invalidates Religion and Evolution...so maybe we are the Cow...

First cow: "Aren't you worried about mad cow disease?"
Second cow: "What should I care? I'm a helicopter."

Why did they call it Mad Cow Disease?

Because PMS was already taken!

Huh? Especially the last bit.

String theory is viable and has very interesting and significant implications (it would explain multiple universes, for example), but a) it invalidates nothing except its rival theories and b) Mad Cow Disease is mostly just caused by proteins that flopped over wrong--that's all we can honestly say we know about it.

Are you implying that mad cow disease is limited to North America? I think Europe, and Britain in particular, would take exception to that.

Mad Cow disease is caused by a misfolded proteins, known as prions. There is a family of prion diseases that include variants for other species, including Creuzfeld-Jakob Disease, the human variant. Prions are the misfolded proteins which in turn result in plaques in the creatures brain.

Science has done a fairly good job so far of describing why these proteins fold the the way they do; what remains to be determined is what causes the transformation of "normal" proteins to prions. There seems to be a strong correlation between consumption of brain matter - in cattle, prion disease developed among bovines fed a mixture of foods that included ground up sheep brains.

One of the most fascinating things about prion disease is that it is the only described disease where a protein is the carrier. No viruses, no bacteria, but merely a single misfolded protein will interact with a subject's brain matter proteins and then cause them to start misfolding as well.

As for the rest of your post, I find the postulates to be good thought exercises (gravity waves of supernovae, and such), but ultimately impractical either for incorrect bases or testability. As for the suggestion the Americans are the cause of this... I figure you either have a really bad opinion of Americans as a generalization or you are deeply paranoid. Perhaps it's a bit of both, and from the style of writing and psuedo-philosophical overtones (over very little of substance), I rather suspect you were under the influence of some mind-altering substance. However, on the off chance you were serious, i would be glad to discuss more about prion diseases, Americans and philosophy. Best!

EEEP! A Status Quo-er! Kill it!

Science has done a shoddy job...if the universe were undamaged and perfect, then matter would not exist (matter being a change in possibility), and dice would have no specific value in particular...as all values would be infinite simultaneous moments waiting for a change in possibility to solidify the dice as real by removal of the most probable value from its possibility fluid state.

You are a filled generated by a specific set of changes in possibility and your existance is as valid in the past as it is in the future.

Evolution only works if you get changes over time, but time is the result of change in your string entanglement. You dont experience change on a fixed set of possibilities unless it is exerted on from outside.

Not so sure we would, actually.

Today's theorist(s), yellowdingo, is currently enrolled in the Arkham Mad Scientist's College.

Thank you, Mr. yellowdingo, for your insights.

I'm thinking Mad Cow explains away a lot of these posts.

Besides, people are more worried about Bluetongue lately.

If you ask me mad cow disease was caused by humans making cows eat cows and not grass. ;)

I totally dig it, man.

hmm, am thinking this should be in my conspiracies thread... :)

yep, this is what my data shows also...cows and eating processed food; ie manure.

Scarab Sages

Mmmmm....cow.

The Exchange

Mmmmm....folded protein.

Scarab Sages

Would a zombie cow eat other cow's brains?

Isn't that called a burrito?
